What's the most uncomfortable movie or TV scene you've ever seen?

Uncomfortable can mean anything, scary, sad, creepy, gory etc...

I was just watching AHS this afternoon, the Cult season and there is a scene with a nail gun (if you've seen it you'll know!).

I am really not a squeamish person but this scene just made me go cold, I was about to fast forward it before it finished.

It wasn't even the most gruesome thing I've seen on TV/a movie before but the whole idea just made me feel really uncomfortable and like I was really horrible for watching it if that makes sense?

@efeslight A Field in England was utterly horrific, particularly that scene, and I can't quite even define why.

JacktomyDaniel · 16/10/2020 20:27

I'm sure it was in, The Kite Runner. Young boy is brutally raped by other boys. Seemed it would never end. Had to turn it off 😭

Standrewsschool · 16/10/2020 20:28

@Pickledonionsfortea

Spooks - the deep fat fryer episode, must be about 20 years ago.
I came on to say Spooks and the deep fat fryer episode also.
Thankssomuch · 16/10/2020 20:30

dementedma I’m with you 100% re: Kes, when he finds the kestrel.
The book is even more painful (if that’s possible).

MistyGreenAndBlue · 16/10/2020 20:30

I genuinely feel that there is never a reason for any rape scene or films about rape.

While women are generally distressed by them, I do believe that men's (with a few outliers) reactions range from indifference/desensitized to downright aroused.
All these films do is normalise it. It needs to stop.

ripples101 · 16/10/2020 20:32

The rape scene in Irreversible.

united4ever · 16/10/2020 20:33

Murder of Farkhunda Malikzada on the streets of Afghanistan as the police watched on. She was infamous for burning a copy of the Koran and was attacked in the street in broad daylight which grew into a baying crowd hitting, kicking, stoning her for quite some time then set her alight to finish her off. Hundreds if people stood by watching and joining in.

A lot if it was shown on BBC news too. Awful scenes.

bimbimbap · 16/10/2020 20:33

came on to say “that” scene in this is england, like many others

Shxx · 16/10/2020 20:35

I was watching Monster yesterday the film about Aileen Warnos
the rape scene from her first murder was disturbing, i forgot it was in there.

Mumoftwo12345 · 16/10/2020 20:35

I recently watched a movie with Jonah hill and James Franco. It was based on a true story, I can't remember its name but the fact that it was true made me cry lots.

Thankssomuch · 16/10/2020 20:36

The final scene in ‘Missing’ by the director Costa-Gavras, when Jack Lemmon’s character finds out his son was killed.
Sophie’s Choice (the choosing scene)
Lots of Gallipoli
The mob violence scene in The Riot Club when the cricket bat is used

WWYD2020 · 16/10/2020 20:36

Happy valley where he drugs her with heroin and rales her in the caravan whilst she vomits

calamityjam · 16/10/2020 20:36

The walking dead where Glen has his head caved in by Negan. It's the horrible build up and gruesome scene and the other characters reactions together which makes it so difficult to watch

Coffeeandbeans · 16/10/2020 20:37

I can’t watch rape scenes in films. It sickens me. I’m sure it is male fantasy.

inneedofaholiday · 16/10/2020 20:37

Yes, This is England. Also a programme called ‘Murdered by my Boyfriend’. Stayed with me for a long time.

TellMeAStoryIllTellYouTheTruth · 16/10/2020 20:41

@supercee I came here to say No Child Of Mine! I was about 13 when I watched it and the harrowing scenes have stayed with me ever since Sad

The Human Centipede made me feel like an awful person just watching it.

Requiem For A Dream. All of it, but the mum and her quick downfall/speed addiction made me so sad.

Also Sophie's Choice. Actually thought the movie was boring but The Choice haunts me. Especially as I now have a girl and boy Sad

ComicePear · 16/10/2020 20:41

Already mentioned by CaraDuneRedux - that scene in Last King of Scotland really stayed with me. And not in a good way.

MrsJBaptiste · 16/10/2020 20:43

I came on to say 'A Serbian Film'

I haven't seen it but have seen it mentioned on other threads like this so read about it on Wikipedia. Oh my fucking hell. It honestly sounds like the most horrific film and makes some od the ones on this thread sound like a Disney film 😦

FourTeaFallOut · 16/10/2020 20:43

Irreversible and Cherry Tree Lane.

winniesanderson · 16/10/2020 20:44

The film Splice. Fascinating in parts but also awful.

Whatnext2018 · 16/10/2020 20:44

Clockwork orange was v v odd.

28 days later, watched it in the cinema and had to leave, just too much

pincertoe · 16/10/2020 20:44

Crash! I was on a blind double date, had heard it was good so we decided to see it. My friend wanted to leave half way through, it was dire.

Rapunzathepenguin · 16/10/2020 20:45

One of the scenes in the middle of Rob Roy. Those who've seen it will know exactly which scene I mean.

Several of the scenes in Se7en.

Countless scenes in Outlander and The Handmaid's Tale.

I've not seen This is England '86.

Redannie118 · 16/10/2020 20:45

The dead baby scene in Trainspotting, and subsequent hallucination when the same dead baby crawls across the ceiling
All of threads. Every minute.
Scene in Pillars of the Earth where a mother( who is having a incestuous relationship with her adult son) lies awake in bed, seething with jealously as she listens to her son in the next room violently raping his child bride. Utterly sickening.

Hellothere19999 · 16/10/2020 20:45

The end of requiem for a dream. Awful coz you know it’s true.... rich people will throw money at fucked up shit.
