What's the most uncomfortable movie or TV scene you've ever seen?

Uncomfortable can mean anything, scary, sad, creepy, gory etc...

I was just watching AHS this afternoon, the Cult season and there is a scene with a nail gun (if you've seen it you'll know!).

I am really not a squeamish person but this scene just made me go cold, I was about to fast forward it before it finished.

It wasn't even the most gruesome thing I've seen on TV/a movie before but the whole idea just made me feel really uncomfortable and like I was really horrible for watching it if that makes sense?

@Rhubarb01 - Same with the film SE7EN, that literally traumatised me for years. I am 50 now and watched it probably in my early 20's and still have flashbacks even now, but then I am not great at watching most things above a 12 to be fair!

The scene in Reservoir Dogs where someone gets their ear cut off. All done to the jaunty tune of Stuck In The Middle With You.

Casual mutilation of another human being, almost in the spirit of curiosity.

Damn good acting. Shall not watch again.

Rape scene in the girl with the dragon tattoo. It was just too ‘real’ I’ve never had such a visceral reaction to movie before or since.

The “ass to ass” scene in requiem for a dream

I don’t think I’ve cried as much as a film as I did at Lilya4ever

Funkyslippers · 16/10/2020 18:26

I watched a bit of The Human Centipede number 3 and it was really sick and disturbing. I even felt sorry for the poor actors who had to stay like that for hours on end Shock

SinkGirl · 16/10/2020 18:27

I don’t think anything can top the last section of Requiem For A Dream for me. But then I won’t watch hideous torture porn stuff. RFAD is so disturbing because you’ve watched things fall apart so completely.

The rape and battle scenes in Game of Thrones

The episode Shut up and Dance in Black Mirror

Quite a lot of Black Mirror actually

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 16/10/2020 18:29

Dominic Cummings' rose garden press conference and the French horror film Martyrs are about equal for me.

Bellesavage · 16/10/2020 18:30

Watership down

Rhubarb01 · 16/10/2020 18:30

@Cosmos45 it was the first time I left a cinema with a deep feeling of depression. I expected a gritty detective/thriller but that was something else entirely. I'm a similar age to you and some scenes have stuck with me ever since.

gypsywater · 16/10/2020 18:30

The film Straightheads is horrific

ShinyMe · 16/10/2020 18:31

The thing I found hardest to watch, and I wish I could forget, was a scene in Paris Trout, which is a massively uncomfortable film anyway. Stars Dennis Hopper, who I find creepy as hell anyway, as a racist southern redneck bigot who beats his wife and is corrupt and awful and then there's a scene where he rapes his wife (lovely Barbara Hershey) with a coke bottle. It must be 25 years since I saw it and I will never watch it again and can't forget it. It's a very well made film, but just too horrible.

Yes, I find myself thinking about black mirror episodes a lot.

The scene in Pitch Perfect where Anna Kendrick raps No Diggity

Just bum-clenchingly awkward. It’s so, so awful.

ifiwasascent · 16/10/2020 18:32

The lovely bones when she went down into the underground murder den- maybe because I was younger but that always stayed with me and then later in the film when the dad starts helping the murderer build the next trap for his other daughter. gives me chills

Mydarlingsleepthief · 16/10/2020 18:32

Came on to say the rape scene in This is England too Sad

So true 🤣
ShinyMe · 16/10/2020 18:34

Agree with Se7en being traumatic. Is saw it in the cinema with a group of friends, and we all came out in silence, looked at each other and went "drink?" "Drink." nod nod and walked straight over the road to a pub and ordered 7 triple vodkas and downed them in one in silence.

Thurmanmurman · 16/10/2020 18:34

Yes to the rape scene in This is England 86 and also the racist attack on Milky by Combo in the film. There are a lot of disturbing scenes in that series. Also Slumdog Millionare when the man removes the little boys eyes so he’d earn more money as a blind beggar.

ShelbyCherryBlossom · 16/10/2020 18:35

Another one - in Gunpowder when that lady was crushed to death naked and publicly, I was horrified, I think because things like that actually happened.

sausagerole · 16/10/2020 18:37

The flashback scene in Wind River. It begins so cosy and innocuous and escalates so quickly and dramatically that it's a total shock. I felt so uncomfortable afterwards, I couldn't sleep properly.

ShinyMe · 16/10/2020 18:37

I think 7 is an excellent film though and have seen it several times.

MrsJackRackham · 16/10/2020 18:38

The rape scene in Once Upon a Time in America.
Amistad. When the slaves are in the ship's hold after being captured and then some people are dumped overboard as the ship was too heavy.

polkadotpjs · 16/10/2020 18:38

There was a crush injury in Casualty of all things once where the guy knew he'd die if the pressure from the crush (in a recycling compactor ) was released. It really bothered me that he was conscious and knew they couldn't help him

Seriouslyconfused3 · 16/10/2020 18:38

Can’t remember the name but a British film about a couple camping in the woods- they encounter a teenage gang and things get horrific. Scarred me for life
