What's the most uncomfortable movie or TV scene you've ever seen?

Uncomfortable can mean anything, scary, sad, creepy, gory etc...

I was just watching AHS this afternoon, the Cult season and there is a scene with a nail gun (if you've seen it you'll know!).

I am really not a squeamish person but this scene just made me go cold, I was about to fast forward it before it finished.

It wasn't even the most gruesome thing I've seen on TV/a movie before but the whole idea just made me feel really uncomfortable and like I was really horrible for watching it if that makes sense?

This is random.

But there is a punishment in Impractical Jokers where some one has to get a prostate exam and they don't want to.

In the show if you refuse the punishment you can't be on the show anymore and I just found the idea of someone being forced to have that happen on TV infront of everyone uncomfortable

colouringindoors · 16/10/2020 19:55

Spooks s1 or 2 i think.
Female agent has her face plunged into a bubbling deep fat fryer. 😱😱😱😱

colouringindoors · 16/10/2020 19:57

And the whole of SE7EN. So disturbing and sickening. Imagine thinking that up.

Idontlikecheesecake · 16/10/2020 19:58

The torture scene in Pan’s Labrynth. I felt so sorry for him and nearly cry every time

RiseUpWiseUpEyesUp · 16/10/2020 19:58

@beansonbread

The bathroom rape scene in 13 Reasons Why absolutely shocked me to my core. Just when you think it’s going to stop it just continues. I had to pause the episode after that scene to collect myself and have the strength to keep going.
I came to say this, genuinely the worst thing I’ve ever witnessed I think. I didn’t read any spoilers so had no idea it was going to happen and felt quite shaky afterwards.

Another one that haunts is just the whole final episode of Nurse Jackie (I won’t say what because it’s an amazing show and a huge spoiler if you’ve not watched it!) but I cried like a baby. In fact the whole show broke my heart several times!

dogslife2020 · 16/10/2020 19:59

The rape scene - Jodie Foster - The Accused. Awful.

orangenasturtium · 16/10/2020 19:59

@GregoryFluff

Extended rape scene in the tunnel in the French film Irreversible, extremely disturbing, as was much of it tbh
This. It's in "real time" rather than "cinematic time" where everything happens much faster than in reality. It seems interminable.

Oh god yes @Jobseeker19 poor old Murr, he gets the worst punishments! (Although Sal’s Jaden Smith tattoos are a close second 😂)
@TheQuietWoman Broadlands gave me nightmares, and there’s not much that scares me.

i remember just sitting at the end of the movie, trying to get my head round it. horrifying.
Same here Fucknuckle. I couldn't get it out of my head. Made me feel pretty ill. I did NOT see that ending coming. And the part where the sheep is being tortured and they can only listen to the squeals...horrible.

Heatherjayne1972 · 16/10/2020 20:00

Shaw shank redemption where the guards beat a man on his first night in prison - he’s having a breakdown and just just beat him
And later when ‘the sisters’ corner Andy in the laundry and try to rape him

There was a British film about a group of robbers who get caught by gangsters one of them gets blowtorched - can’t remember its name tho
Both horrid

osnapitzchloe · 16/10/2020 20:01

When they find baby Dawn in Trainspotting. Truly horrifying.

Beaverdam100 · 16/10/2020 20:04

I can watch anything apart from torture (hostel etc) but the scene in Dr Sleep where they kill the boy was awful.

latheritup · 16/10/2020 20:04

A Serbian Movie. I was told to watch it and my god, it is the most fucked up film I have ever seen.

Chosennone · 16/10/2020 20:08

The Gimp scene in Pulp Fiction!
I didn't even know what a gimp was, to see him raping a central character on the basement of a shop was such a shock to me at the time!
This is England is definitely one that stays with you Sad

redvest · 16/10/2020 20:08

Mona Lisa where the young girl is being anally penetrated by a punter. All of it was so seedy.
12 years a slave was heartbreaking.
Can I add a book.....? Last Exit to Brooklyn was hideous for my teenage brain.

charliebear78 · 16/10/2020 20:08

I have not seen many of the ones mentioned on here(thankfully)
I remember feeling really on edge watching Glen and Abe get battered to death on TWD.
Really dislike rape scenes in films, though I have seen Irreversible

PurpleFlower1983 · 16/10/2020 20:08

The end of Braveheart and the beginning of the series Gunpowder. I don’t do well with cruel and unusual capital punishment, especially when it’s based on real events. I coped with it better in Game of Thrones because it was fictional. I won’t watch 12 Years a Slave.

redvest · 16/10/2020 20:10

@latheritup Someone said to me it was the most awful film ever, so I watched 5 minutes before I needed to bleach my eyes.

charliebear78 · 16/10/2020 20:11

I have read about A serbian Movie enough to know I would never watch...just why???

PeachesTheFlamingo · 16/10/2020 20:12

Another vote for the rape scene of Trev by Mick in this is England. Truly harrowing.

A bit of a random one.. but a very 'out there' film called "The Greasy Strangler". I was literally speechless throughout the entire film and could only mutter WTF afterwards. I don't actually know anyone else who has seen it - has anyone?

I've not seen it myself and will never watch it, but a friend of mine is half Serbian and he once watched a film called "The Serbian Film". He has always regretted watching it and told me the plot which I have never been able to forget because it just sounds absolutely horrific... Main character is a retired porn star and he is offered money to return to making porn films. He refused. He is kidnapped or drugged or something and forced to make porn movies to secure his release (and possibly the release of his family members). Turns out he ends up having sex with his wife and son (without knowing it's them).
Who the fuck thinks up this sickening shit and how the hell was this ever allowed to be made?!?!?!

showgirlie · 16/10/2020 20:17

@Seriouslyconfused3

Can’t remember the name but a British film about a couple camping in the woods- they encounter a teenage gang and things get horrific. Scarred me for life
Eden Lake - yes it was horrifying
HopeClearwater · 16/10/2020 20:19

I’m assuming that most of the posters on this thread are female.
Rape scenes come up again and again.
Who’s writing and directing this stuff? Men or women? I bet I can guess.

DuesToTheDirt · 16/10/2020 20:22

Slumdog Millionaire - I didn't know about the blinding as I only made it through about 15min before abandoning it - I thought it was supposed to be a feelgood film about overcoming the odds, but it was horrific.

Requiem for a Dream is on my Amazon watch list, but it's coming off now!

Pinkmagic1 · 16/10/2020 20:26

The Human Centipede. Absolutely horrific and wish I could unsee it.

rainatnightlove · 16/10/2020 20:27

@Seriouslyconfused3 Eden Lake- I agree, so brutal
