Parking

I know I’ll get shot down for this but ..
we have lived in our house for eleven years and my husband has always parked his works van across from our house. We have one car in our driveway which only takes one car. Next door has room for two cars in their drive. Since the son has passed his test, with his car and his girlfriends car, they are parking we’re my husband has parked for years. They always make sure their is a car parked in the space across the road so my dh can’t park his works van there. So they have three cars including mum and dads. I know there is nothing we can do about it as the parking space across the road is for everyone. I’m just having a rant as they are cheeky fuckers. The girlfriend parks in the space every bloody night and she dosent even live in the street. My dh has to park the van wherever. With all his work tools in it. He can’t see the van from the house now. Grrrrrr

Why can't your husband park his van with tools in safely on your drive and you park your car somewhere else nearby?

PenCreed · 16/10/2020 10:15

Park his van on your own drive where he can see it then.

Brandaris · 16/10/2020 10:17

They’re not the CF, you’re the CF for thinking you have first dibs on a spot on the road!

Dugsbollox · 16/10/2020 10:17

If he's concerned about his tools he has a drive available?

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 16/10/2020 10:18

If he’s that bothered about his work tools he shouldn’t be leaving them in there overnight.

NameChangeAgain222 · 16/10/2020 10:20

He shouldn't be leaving the tools in the van overnight, he won't be insured if they are stolen. Why can't he park the van on your drive?

ZarkingBell · 16/10/2020 10:21

Van on drive. Your car elsewhere.

Gizlotsmum · 16/10/2020 10:21

I think you are both equally cheeky. If you are worried about the van use the drive for it and park the car elsewhere... How far away are you actually having to park?

amusedbush · 16/10/2020 10:25

My dad has all of his tools stolen from his van when it was parked outside the house in full view of the (massive) living room window. It happened in the middle of the night so being able to see the van doesn't necessarily make it safer.

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 16/10/2020 10:27

Park your car elsewhere and put his on the drive. And don't leave tools in it.

larajeancovey · 16/10/2020 10:28

YABU to park a van (presumably) outside someone else’s house when you have a drive of your own, bloody eyesores. I’d say karma is catching up with you if that’s the case Wink

TidyDancer · 16/10/2020 10:28

As others have said, van on drive and car elsewhere. Or if van won't fit, remove tools from van and park it where you can.

Your neighbours are not the cfs here, sorry.

EvilPea · 16/10/2020 10:29

I’d park the van on the drive and ideally your car over the drive. Tool theft is rife and they fuck your van up in the process

AntiHop · 16/10/2020 10:30

This has to be a reverse.

Proudling · 16/10/2020 10:31

THIS ^^

YABU as it’s an easy fix and you have no claim on the road spot. It’s also stupid to leave tools in a van on the road overnight.

Malin52 · 16/10/2020 10:34

I imagine the people who live across the road are delighted they don't have to look out of their window at someone's eyesore of a 'works van'.

bethany39 · 16/10/2020 10:35

Park your van on the drive and park the car somewhere else. I bet the neighbours opposite are fed up of looking at your DH's work van blocking their light apart from anything else.

TW2013 · 16/10/2020 10:35

You park the car in the space opposite, he parks the van on the drive, take in tools overnight. They can't park in 'your spot', he can park near home, the tools are safe inside. Three birds one stone.

loobyloo1234 · 16/10/2020 10:36

Is this a reverse? His van should be on the drive, car not on the drive. You are the CF taking your DH space

lyralalala · 16/10/2020 10:37

They're no more cheeky for using the space than you and your DH when you use it.

If the girlfriend parks there every night then it sounds like she lives there. Otherwise her car would move surely?

If you're worried about the tools then park the van on your drive and your car elsewhere.

Absolutely. Guy across from us did this for years despite having his own driveway and garage. Was so happy to have the ugly thing gone from my window.
Icanseewhyichangednyusername · 16/10/2020 10:40

I would say you should feel grateful for being able to use the space for the past 11 years. Now it’s somebody else’s turn!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 16/10/2020 10:47

They always make sure their is a car parked in the space across the road so my dh can’t park his works van there.

I very much doubt that that is their reasoning - unless they've bought, taxed and insured a car specifically to park it there and never, ever move it. I don't buy the last one of something at the supermarket purely so that somebody else can't have it.

MoonJelly · 16/10/2020 10:53

Your husband has had eleven years free parking in a place convenient to him. Time to allow someone else that facility.

MoonJelly · 16/10/2020 10:56

I can't see how parking in the road outside their house makes them cheeky fuckers. Expecting your neighbours to put up for years with a large work vehicle parked outside their front windows does however make you and your husband CFs.
