To ask what this is in daughters tooth?

My daughter has just cut her first molar in the last couple of days. However there’s what looks like gum still in the tooth, or right next to it. She won’t let me get a good look at it and is fighting tooth brushing again which she’s been fine with for a while now. I’m worried what this could be? Of course I will try to get her in a dentist ASAP. But has anyone seen this in their child / any ideas if this is normal or not. It’s literally just come through and her other teeth are all okay so I don’t think it could be decay we also give her a healthy diet and brush for 2 minutes twice a day.

Looks a little like a blood blister?

Mumdiva99 · 15/10/2020 11:08

I think it's just where the tooth is still coming through. Nothing to worry about.

BlackRibboner · 15/10/2020 11:11

My youngest had this a few weeks ago, in their just-come-through molars. I also worried about decay, but I think it was actually a bit of gum from where it was still cutting through. Molars are now fully out and it's not there. I'd keep an eye on it, but don't worry.

@BlackRibboner thank you! That makes me feel less anxious. Will keep an eye on it for a few days and hopefully it will go at some point.

I wouldn’t worry, I’m sure in a few days it will disappear OP. My DC’s has similar

I agree it looks like blood blister. My daughter had them a few times when she had teeth coming through as a baby. The dentist said it was like bruising on the gum. She didnt have any decay, it just seemed her gums were quite sensitive.

Like PP I doubt it's anything to worry about. If in a week or so you're still worried lots of dentists are doing a virtual triage so you just send photos and they send you back a report.
