So Upset. Stolen Cat.

Hermes driver and her daughter took our cat on Thursday 8th Oct - we have witnesses.

After turning up every day for months they disappeard, with the cat. A different driver turned up to collet our 'sting'' parcel on Friday. Their job was advertised on Indeed the next day.

I know the girl is a teenager, not in school, called Izzy. I have the van reg. no. It's a 59 reg silver/blue transit.

Herbie is an old man who has lived here all his life. We took him in last winter when his original owner couldn't look after him anymore.

The police are on it but can't get information about the van nor contact Hermes.

AIBU to be so upset? I can usually cope with life's dificulties but his gentle, innocent soul must be so distressed and it's hurting.

Please, if anyone knows the driver and/or daughter, let me know where to get Herbie back so he can spend his last days in the home he knows.

So Upset. Stolen Cat.

@tararabumdeay

Steff, don't persue Detective as a career. A non English name is not grounds for suspicion.
No one said it was. 🤷‍♀️ Perhaps work on your reading comprehension.

@Runningjump

Fucking hell. How dense can you get?

The sting parcel was a way to guarantee for a parcel to be delivered and to know what time to expect them.

Actually the sting parcel was a collection OP arranged from their house, however I don't think it's dense to ask why OP deemed it necessary to 'sting' this driver when the driver would ordinarily be in their cul de sac most days anyway. I'm not being dense by asking OP why suddenly after months of this driver delivering to them/their neighbours most days did OP think the driver needed to be 'stung'

Also, don't be so fucking rude, because if my question actually is dense, that just means I don't understand and there is no damn need to be rude and call people names for not understanding things. Nasty and unnecessary.

DynamoKev · 16/10/2020 09:26

There is nothing wrong with posters asking perfectly valid questions about the parts of this thread/story that don't seem to add up.

I would just like to add to the above that this bit of your post makes sense and it isn't something i even considered, nor did OP cite it as a reason when asked several times why the sting. So thank you for giving a possible reason. I guess I must be dense because it didn't even cross my mind. Maybe just work on not name calling in future, as you post was actually helpful in the end.

For all the ppl saying you shouldn’t be paying ppls info, should the police SM stop posting wanted appeals? you know cos they’re innocent into proven guilty 🙄🙄
Honestly folk need to get a grip!

The police looking for a known suspect, with evidence, is not the same as the OP posting personal details of a teenager.

copperoliver · 16/10/2020 10:19

If you read the op they have witnesses that's who took the cat x

Yeah that's not really comparable to compelling police evidence when talking about whether or not it's ok to publicise the Hermes driver and her DD's details though.

TBHno · 16/10/2020 10:40

Given the amount of holes in this story, I'm going to give the "thieves" the benefit of the doubt.

Op, if the story is what you're claiming it is, then I would think that the driver took the cat believing that it was a stray. I don't think they stole it.

steppemum · 16/10/2020 11:20

despite the fact that Op has said that they have talked to the driver about the cat, adn told them he isn't a stray, just old and belonged to them.

Is there any news?

Hm2020 · 16/10/2020 12:31

So sorry this happened hope herebys home soon

tararabumdeay · 16/10/2020 19:07

No news today but I have been in person to the local Police Station.

It's not a Community Police Station now. I had to press a buzzer to get through to the West Mercia HQ.

After five minutes standing outside I heard footsteps and a Police Officer opened the door to me. He didn't have to do that. Our nearest peopled police station is 22 miles away, as indicated by a small poster on the wall.

He listened to me; went upstairs and read the report; came downstairs and said it'll be assigned to an officer asap.

Every day is another one fretting about how Herbie will adapt to an environment so removed from his familar territory. Poor Cat! How Cruel!

LagneyandCasey · 16/10/2020 19:33

I'm glad the police are taking it seriously, op. Hopefully with the evidence you have they can find Herbie.

My bet is he's being looked after. It sounds like they had a soft spot for him and wanted him for themselves. Obviously that can never excuse them taking him and what they've done is very wrong Angry. I just hope they're keeping him indoors because there's the risk he'll run away if he's let out. Is he on any meds or anything?

I check on this thread all the time and I'm really hoping for good news soon.

CoraPirbright · 17/10/2020 15:04

Oh goodness - really hope he is returned to you soon. It makes me so bloody furious - how fucking arrogant do these people have to be to either assume that he isn't cared for or just think they can just steal like that!!

I don’t suppose they have appeared in the vicinity again OP? Have you told all your neighbours so that they are on alert just in case they make deliveries again?

user1471538283 · 17/10/2020 18:38

I hope he is returned soon. I'm worried for him.

2020hasbeenbloodyawful · 17/10/2020 18:40

@HazelBite

Someone did something similar to me some years ago. Mother and son decided that our cat, was their cat that they had "lost" previously and that I had taken their cat! It, of course, was not their cat as we had had Stanley from a very young kitten, Stanley attacked them escaped and ran home, Mother and son pursued him and battered on my door as he ran through the cat flap! I made them grovel, after suggesting they go to the local vet to see how long the cat had been registered there! I sincerely hope you get your cat back OP, poor thing he must be rally confused.
Go Stanley! God I bet they frightened the life out of him, how lucky you have a cat flap! People are bloody weird what a lucky escape you all had!
VettiyaIruken · 17/10/2020 18:44

Flowers I do hope you get him back.
I'd be heartbroken if someone stole my cat.

tararabumdeay · 20/10/2020 08:36

They brought him back! Herbie is home, obviously fed for the 11 days he's been gone. Now he's just carrying on as normal.

We're so happy.
Thank you for all the dind messages.

OP posts:

That's great news you must be so happy. Did they give a reason why he was taken?

Alonelonelyloner · 20/10/2020 08:51

Yay!
That's great news.
But what the heck! They should be charged with something. Did they apologise etc?

tararabumdeay · 20/10/2020 08:52

No, he was left in the close early this morning.

OP posts:
EvilPea · 20/10/2020 10:12

That’s brilliant.
I’m so pleased you got him back.
