Hermes driver and her daughter took our cat on Thursday 8th Oct - we have witnesses.

After turning up every day for months they disappeard, with the cat. A different driver turned up to collet our 'sting'' parcel on Friday. Their job was advertised on Indeed the next day.

I know the girl is a teenager, not in school, called Izzy. I have the van reg. no. It's a 59 reg silver/blue transit.

Herbie is an old man who has lived here all his life. We took him in last winter when his original owner couldn't look after him anymore.

The police are on it but can't get information about the van nor contact Hermes.

AIBU to be so upset? I can usually cope with life's dificulties but his gentle, innocent soul must be so distressed and it's hurting.

Please, if anyone knows the driver and/or daughter, let me know where to get Herbie back so he can spend his last days in the home he knows.

So Upset. Stolen Cat.

OP - FOR THE THIRD TIME OF ASKING .... did your witnesses actually see the cat being put in the van?

quest1on · 15/10/2020 18:29

Really hope you get him back OP. This is devastating. Did the police track the registration?

tararabumdeay · 15/10/2020 18:36

Medivalist. Yes the witness saw the cat being put into the van.
Sorry I didn't answer the first or second time. I was probably working or replying to other posts.

Reported. You should not be posting such personal details about this driver or their family.

mutzul · 15/10/2020 18:41

So now you love the cat so much and had it for 4years but only last year you posted moaning that your neighbors abandoned him and why should you feed him..HmmHmm
Hope the link works as it's the first time I'm posting a link.

Hope you get your cat back OP how awful

AibuTellMe · 15/10/2020 18:43

Have you searched for an Izzy / isabell on facebook in your area? Alot of teens love social media you might see a pic of your cat or the girl.

OhCaptain · 15/10/2020 18:49

This is completely batshit!

Do you think they turned up for months to feed the cat treats so they could kidnap it? This mangey, looks like a stray cat?

The cat that you didn’t want to feed last year?

What’s all this about jobs advertised on Indeed, and Hermes, and employment law???

In short: what the ever loving fuck is going on here???

Oh for goodness sake. OP had this cat pretty much foisted on them because their neighbour didn't/couldn't take proper care of him. OP didn't want a cat but took him in and cared for him and turned to mumsnet for advice. Sometime between then and now the cat has worked it's way into OP's heart (as they do!) and OP now loves him dearly and is desperately wanting him safely home.

tararabumdeay · 15/10/2020 18:57

Nice one Mutzul. Your link to my previous post about Herbie just proves how much we get attached to dumb animals.

Here's a picture of an old cat enjoying the sun.

Oh get a grip! Their pet has been stolen and they're doing everything they can to get it back.

Some really heartless replies on here. There are some really sour individuals on this site.

I hope you get him back.

Meant to quote this in my previous message.

@tararabumdeay

No news today - sob! The 'sting' parcel was selotaped to the door at work at 5:55pm yesterday when work was closed but I've asked techie to save the CCTV.

I haven't received the parcel yet but I didn't see the Caretaker today as I was at a different site.

Eh? Why would you have a 'sting' parcel to your work when the cat was taken from the quiet, rural cul de sac where you live?

cherrybakewellll · 15/10/2020 19:11

I don't like cars (owning to the fact next door has 17) but this is horrific and I hope you get her mine back soon.

I may have missed this info but what area are you in?

DumplingsAndStew · 15/10/2020 19:15

Do you have another photo of Herbie that isn't available publicly on your FB page?

I'm concerned this could be someone jumping on a genuine missing cat story for some reason.

MrsKingfisher · 15/10/2020 19:16

Honestly some people are just so bloody nasty, so what if 4 years ago she took on a cat she was less pleased about. People do fall in love with animals they become family members. Regardless someone has stolen ops cat and she's doing what she can to bring him home. Poor cat must be quite confused being taken away from his usual area especially if he's older.

tararabumdeay · 15/10/2020 19:18

For the hard of thought. I sent a pack from me to work to Hemes to try to get the mum to get it. She did not get it from me.

When it got to work it was taped to the door.

The pack did not have a cat in it.

The van mum and Izzy took the cat. They have been seen about five miles up the road.

Do you get that in words of one syllable?

OP posts:
EvilPea · 15/10/2020 19:20

Oh he’s so handsome. What the hell goes through people’s heads.

Fingers crossed you get him back soon Flowers

quest1on · 15/10/2020 19:22

Of course the OP is not making up that this cat has been stolen. As for posting “details,” well how else will the cat be found?

OP what area is the cat in now? Where was the van reg spotted?

This is one thread I hope gets picked up by the Fail, or any other national press..

tararabumdeay · 15/10/2020 19:28

Thank you EvilPea. I was a bit mean with my last post but this thread is as bizzare as Herbie the Cat - or any cat.

FreshFreesias · 15/10/2020 19:28

Good luck OP, this sounds dreadful.
I admire your tenacity and creative thinking to get your beloved cat back. I feel optimistic as you have witnesses and know what happened. Prayers.

This thread is so weird.

Hope you get him back OP.

Toothsil · 15/10/2020 19:32

I hope you get him back, I can't imagine how distraught you must be 😢 Hopefully if you've put the details on local Facebook pages then someone might see or know something.

Is SY4 an area of Shropshire?

Is it worth putting fliers through doors / signs out in that area?
