Why? Just why would someone decorate their house with pretend damp an Mould?

YABU: it looks lovely
YANBU: WTF

The green room and the pink room are ok. It's an interesting mix of original colourful (and mouldy!) spaces and a dull predictable kitchen, hallway etc. Anyway, I suspect the new owners will rip it all out.....

DappledThings · 13/10/2020 21:31
@DappledThings.... Too much grey! The kitchen alone... 😱
But the kitchen is mainly white and blue! Grey window frames admittedly but isn't navy blue the main colour? Maybe it's the blue/gold dress equivalent!

Maireas · 13/10/2020 21:32

Indeed, Dappled!! I'm just looking at those kitchen cupboards... Window frames etc

@FatimaLovesBread

I'm sure I've seen that green bathroom with the copper bath on Instagram 🤔
Probably. Part of the mammoth description is about how Siouxsie, the owner, has made a profitable business out of letting the house be used for photoshoots.

What I want to know is why are there so many photos of the same things. Only one photo of the back garden and loads of single rooms.

weaselwords · 13/10/2020 21:39

😍😍😍

Fink · 13/10/2020 21:41

From their own website:

'Spare Bedroom

This is set up as a large family bathroom with a copper roll top bath, however the bath is a prop, no plumbing. Offering one green panelled wall and lots of unique shelving and a beautiful ravaged burnt fireplace.'

So they've literally wasted a whole room with a fake bath?! Grin

Maireas · 13/10/2020 21:42

Siouxsie. Of course.

Flightsoffancy · 13/10/2020 21:49

I think I love it, but then I follow an Instagram account that is almost exclusively photos of abandoned Italian villas...

Brogues · 13/10/2020 21:54

I love it. I also follow an abandoned building Instagram page so maybe it’s a thing?

KurriKawari · 13/10/2020 22:13

@flightsoffancy @Brogues what pages please? Thank you.

goose1964 · 13/10/2020 22:20

Photo 18 wtf?

HepLaurenceLB · 13/10/2020 22:25

@goose1964

Photo 18 wtf?
Do you not have a Goth Taxidermy room?

They obviously ran out of cash with the remodel and decided to paint the mould to make it a 'thing'.

Im just glad my house is now effortless designer. Finally, I'm on trend! 👌

Maireas · 13/10/2020 22:28

Photo 18 is wtf? Yet photo 19 is yawn...

Brogues · 13/10/2020 22:31

@KurriKawari I can’t immediately see it on my massive list but I will try and remember when it pops up on my feed again. It’s more North American architecture but so beautiful.

Twillow · 13/10/2020 22:36

Parts of it are delightful. I will be borrowing that kitchen shelf idea.
The Victorian museum room is a bit grim. There are no curtains in the bedroom? It's all very staged.
(on further reading, I see this is the very idea and it is loaned out for magazine shoots!)

DENMAN03 · 13/10/2020 22:51

I think it looks amazing! Love it.

rorosemary · 13/10/2020 23:00

Other than the mould look I absolutely love the look of this house!

Thedogscollar · 13/10/2020 23:54

There's no accounting for taste.
Each room is equally hideous and you couldn't pay me to live in it.

Elsewyre · 14/10/2020 00:20

I'm going to take a wild stab that this house is used as a set more than it's been used as a house latley

Vivi0 · 14/10/2020 00:42

I love it. I love the house and the mould!

TonytheDog · 14/10/2020 00:58

That's at the arse end of Streatham. £1.75m is ridiculous. It's vacuous and staged.

katy1213 · 14/10/2020 01:08

Not my taste but it's described as a 'modern Gothic' location for photo shoots - so I guess if that's what sells, the mortgage pays for itself. The novelty of that copper bath would wear off after the first week!

ARoseInHarlem · 14/10/2020 01:09

The most offensive thing is the neon OPEN sign above the fridge. Jars stylistically, I don’t see the point of it if it’s descriptive (the fridge is shut) and I hate being told what to do if it’s a command (no thanks). I’d rip that out before I ripped out the probably-stupid-expensive mould wallpaper.

tectonicplates · 14/10/2020 01:15

But it is actually a house specifically for renting out for photoshoots. I don't think they've claimed otherwise. It even has a link to their website www.kempshottroad.co.uk where you can see how many magazines it's been featured in. I wonder if the buyer will actually want to live in it, or if they'll continue using it as a photography location. Personally I'd love to live there but it would probably take a while for people to stop knocking on the door.
