Foreign students and accommodation

As an airbnb host I’m getting some requests to book from overseas students. Some of them are from countries where they would need to self isolate. One last night admitted she is from Uganda, while others won’t say where they are from.

I can’t allow that here. I haven’t got time to shop for them and wouldn’t take the risk anyway. It’s not fair to me or to the community.

Why the hell are universities not taking responsibility for this? I do know one fellow host who has a student self isolating.

Shouldn’t he be in quarantine too? Perhaps someone who knows a bit more could let me know. That is the main reason I won’t do this - I thought if I took one of these students here, I would have to self isolate too.

If you travel to the UK from a country that requires quarantine, only the person who has travelled need to quarantine, not family members or hosts. Technically they could then order a food delivery to your house and cook their own food.

It's not ideal but I have travelled to 'high risk' European countries this summer for work and felt a whole lot safer than i do in the UK!

But you're right. The universities should be sorting accomodation out for them to quarantine in considering they're paying a lot more in fees than home students.

I assume you're an AirBnB host that rents a room in your property rather than renting the entire property for guests? If so, then I can totally see your point about not wanting them to stay, and yes, I do agree that the universities should have made provision for such students.

Most universities have made provision for students to self isolate in their accommodations for 14 days. This must be from students who are trying to buck the system.
