My friend borrowed £10 from me on Friday.
She said il give you it back on Monday.
Yesterday we had plans to go into town.
She rang me saying the weather was dreadful and she had £5 spare so let's get a taxi.
Got in the taxi and I told her I had no change but as soon as we got into town I would give it to her.
She replied "oh it's ok I paid for it out of the £10 I owe you anyway "
And give me £4 change
Then we were in primark and she said she had £70.
She spent too much and asked me to pay for her mum a pair of tracksuit bottoms £5 and she would give me the cash outside.
Anyway got outside and she said she didn't have the £5 in her purse.
She must have left it at home
Aibu or is this cheeky ?

This sounds like one of those awful maths problems.

TheDuchessofMalfy · 15/10/2020 19:42

I agree she’s cheeky and owes you£8.

I wonder what load of tat she got for £70 at Primark!

Maireas · 15/10/2020 19:48

Indeed - surely £70 would buy half the shop?

FamBae · 15/10/2020 20:27

If she asks you for petrol money again just say 'really! I'm sure I must be in credit' Grin

S111n20 · 15/10/2020 20:39

What a cheeky cow !!!!

ColleagueFromMars · 15/10/2020 20:44

I don't think il ask for what she owes as it would probably turn into a massive drama.

She owes you money. The fact that you think it'll be a massive drama if you ask for what is yours tells you all you need to know about this "friendship". True friendships have respect and a true friend would be keen to repay their debts.

From now on when I meet her I'm going to take a small amount of cash for myself and no bank card.
If she asks for anything I'm going to say I don't have anything spare.
It's not the first time she's done this but I deffo will make sure it's the last.

Whilst I'm glad you're making sure it's the last time she steals your money, you shouldn't leave yourself short or put yourself out for this.

"No, pay for it on your card"

"No, go to a cash machine"

"You need to get this because you still owe me from two occasions recently."

"What do you mean you don't have enough to buy something for your mum, you brought £70 with you! I'm not your bank, obviously you need to spend within your limits."

StoneofDestiny · 15/10/2020 20:48

Borrow £10 off her then give her £2 back

Newfornow · 15/10/2020 21:10

She’s not cheeky you are a mug

Alexindiamondarmour · 15/10/2020 21:46

OP, what would happen if you asked her if you could borrow 10 pounds because you’re short this month?

I am willing to bet she won’t have any problem telling you no, so just mirror what she says to you. There’s your solution.
