I'm so confused lol! These are for the back room, that backs onto the garden. Havent had curtains up to now as at was summer when we moved in but it's getting colder in the evenings. So it's a big patio door/windows - I wanted to go for white/cream, but obviously not very practical. I'm not really a flowery sort of person. Trouble is all the curtains on trend seem to be grey, or pastel . I have a brown sofa, brown table and the walls are yellowy cream. I've been looking at yellow colours with a pattern, or I saw a burnt orange colour? Or would I get sick of a stronger colour. It's north facing so need something either bright, or warm maybe? WWYD

ignore the trends you are not a mindless number. go with what you like it doesn't matter what other people like, you have to live with it !

black voile in lounge, monocrome furniture.

travailtotravel · 12/10/2020 19:12

I have a redy-pink silk embroidered set with yellow blue and green pattern. I bought the fabric in India on holiday and had them thermal lined. I still love them. Our walls are grey, sofa grey and oak wood furniture. IT'S really warm and cosy this time of year.

PenCreed · 12/10/2020 19:14

Cream downstairs.Silver in our room (lilac walls, pre-Hinch fashion), green in the spare room. The cream doesn’t seem impractical, curtains don’t get that manky really.

Johntaylorschin · 12/10/2020 19:16

I’ve got ochre yellow curtains made to measure by Blinds2Go, I had a couple of ‘safe’ colours in mind and something a bit bolder, ordered some fabric swatches and pinned them to the wall for 2-3 weeks before making the decision.

I usually have cream curtains I can wash. I changed to grey this year for a change but think I will go back to cream next year.

Spanglybangles · 12/10/2020 19:19

I have these ones in my living room (Orla Kiely at Next), a bold choice for me to be fair, but I really like them and also have a brown leather sofa and brown, well wooden table and mango wood occasional furniture . Walls are greige and room is NE facing.

My lounge is a vibrant blue, sorry not the best photo. Can’t find a decent one.

Also attached my sons bedroom curtains. A bit different.

Black, I realise this may be a bit niche but it's not as gothic as it sounds

BillywigSting · 12/10/2020 19:50

Mine are a pewter colour, no pattern. Other ones I have are pale green and navy blue also no pattern. The pewter and navy ones have a sort of satin/shiny finish so as not to be too flat/dark.

EmeraldShamrock · 12/10/2020 19:52

Plain black out blush. Smile
The room is mainly brown/tan with blush accessories.

Elizadoeslittle19 · 12/10/2020 19:52

Pale green in the dining room, I have cream and mahogany furniture, with a green / brown feature wall. It is nice I promise !! Blush pink in the lounge, I have grey/ rose gold/ pinks in my lounge.

DidgeDoolittle · 12/10/2020 19:52

I have a large patio door/window that opens on to the garden. I have cream curtains. They're far more practical than I thought they'd be. I just stick them in the washing machine occasionally (every summer).

bridgetreilly · 12/10/2020 19:52

Mine are deep purple, bright pink with coloured dots, and sky blue witha a large red and pink floral pattern. They are all stunningly gorgeous.

SBTLove · 12/10/2020 19:52

I have grey & white broad zig zags in living room, yellow Orla Kiely in dining room.
With your colours you could go with something quite bold.

Dugsbollox · 12/10/2020 19:52

Ours are a heavy tartan, muted grey/blue tones. Strong wall colours needed calmer curtains. I think the burnt orange would look good with your furniture.

Royal purple silk - with sage/khaki-ish walls in a north facing room. Sounds hideous but works. Wasn’t deliberate - bought the curtains 10 years ago when we moved in as they were massively reduced and fit the massive window, but have never replaced them as I have fallen in love with them and they are beautifully thick and dark.

SBTLove · 12/10/2020 19:55

To add, Next have some lovely curtains just now, maybe some of the red check/plaid ones might suit.

Notgoingonholiday · 12/10/2020 20:02

I have literally just put up new mustard yellow full length curtains at our patio doors. They are a velvety material, but quite thin so they drape really nicely. I love them. We are going for brighter colours now redoing our lounge, have ordered a blind for the window in a pattern that also has mustard in it. New sofa arriving next week! Can't wait.

paintmywholehousepink · 12/10/2020 20:09

Gold velvet.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/10/2020 20:12

I would like dark red curtains (plain but with some texture) for the room you describe.
