To find this driver cheeky?

Booked an Uber. App stated a driver would arrive in 2 minutes as I booked it, but the driver that accepted my trip was over 10 minutes away. I would have been late had I waited that long so cancelled the trip quickly.

Within 10 minutes, I received a template email from Uber support. The driver reported me to Uber for not wearing a face covering during the trip....although I was never in his car. Upon checking the app, even if you cancel a trip immediately, you can still send this sort of report to Uber!

Aibu to think this driver is really immature for maliciously reporting me just because I cancelled the trip? It puts me right off using Uber, I assume that if these reports keep coming in Uber would ban passengers from using the app through no fault of their own.

We stopped using Uber after a car booked well in advance was cancelled at the last minute, then the same driver accepted the new booking, but now at surge pricing.

Deleted the app. Use real taxis only now.

@TreestumpsAndTrampolines Yeah, definitely deleting Uber now.

I have checked online, apparently now that I have been falsely reported for not wearing a face covering, Uber will make me take and send selfies to them/drivers before every trip to verify if I am wearing a face covering. Thanks to this twat of a driver lying.

You could take this up with Uber. You're not in the situation where he reported you because he didn't like something you did or said during the trip, where it's his word against yours. Their records should show that you cancelled, so it's a complete fabrication on his part, and so they should be able to take this up with him. If he's done it to you, he'll do it to others.

SadderThanEeyore · 11/10/2020 16:06

Report him and delete Uber

MoveOnTheCards · 11/10/2020 19:09

Swap Uber for Bolt. And report the driver/give him a suitable rating score.

CheesyMother · 11/10/2020 19:50

This is why I use Gett (in London) - it’s an app but only for black cabs. I had so many bad experiences with Uber that it’s just not worth it.

Leylafrenchie · 11/10/2020 20:15

Can you give him a 1 star rating ?

I would contact Uber and complain.

Howlooseisyourgoose · 11/10/2020 20:17

YANBU. I’ve been using the mini cab company for 30 years, since I was a child (well my parents used it then). They are still cheaper than Uber and they’re local so I feel very safe.

Howlooseisyourgoose · 11/10/2020 20:18

OP, happy to tweet Uber on your behalf if you share the Driver’s ID?

Howlooseisyourgoose · 11/10/2020 20:18

Maybe if we call complain it will cause a fuss.

windowpaine · 11/10/2020 20:25

Honestly? He probably clicked on the wrong thing by accident. YABU to expect an Uber at your door within 2 minutes.

MorganKitten · 11/10/2020 20:33

Uber don’t background check drivers and find the trump campaign.
Ola do background checks and 40% cheaper.

If you cancel any of those cars on apps you will either be charges half the trip or given a bad review.

damnthatanxiety · 11/10/2020 20:39

@windowpaine

Honestly? He probably clicked on the wrong thing by accident. YABU to expect an Uber at your door within 2 minutes.
Not being unreasonable if the APP STATED that the driver would be there in 2 minutes.
