Who was BU? Parking one (kinda)

Driving home from getting some groceries today and my nose started bleeding everywhere. The road I was on has double yellow lines to both sides and the only place I could find to stop quickly was on the road to a private estate. I wasn't blocking anyone in or preventing access but I was parked on their land.

A man from the closest house came over very quickly and told me to move. I explained (and at this point my nose was still bleeding, it was all over my shirt and hands) and said I'd move ASAP but I didn't feel safe driving as it was so distracting. He was extremely nasty and rude to me and threatened to call the police.

I ignored him and he went back to his house and I left shortly after but was I BU by parking there? The road I pulled off is very busy and narrow which is why there's double yellow lines!

He was being very unreasonable. A medical emergency trumps almost anything else

mumwon · 10/10/2020 13:01

he probably the kind of man that would come out & yell at ambulances -

Queenoftheashes · 10/10/2020 13:02

He’s a prick

timetest · 10/10/2020 13:03

He was. It was unsafe for you to continue to drive so you made a sensible decision.

RobynTripp · 10/10/2020 13:03

Of course you weren't, you made the right decision

AmIACowBag · 10/10/2020 13:09

YANBU OP when he see you covered in blood you would have thought he'd have changed his tune.

Weirdfan · 10/10/2020 13:10

Pretty sure the police would have agreed you'd done the right thing considering they would have have been picking up the pieces if you'd had an accident! You were right, he was wrong (and an arsehole) try not to give it anymore thought than that. Hope you're ok Flowers

Nikori · 10/10/2020 13:13

Don't worry about it. Some people are just twats.

KarmaStar · 10/10/2020 13:13

Who voted yabu?😁of course you weren't but then you know that surely!the man was being an idiot.

Sirzy · 10/10/2020 13:15

You made the safest choice you could at the time

LakieLady · 10/10/2020 13:19

What a bellend.

Some people really are weird.

Undies1990 · 10/10/2020 13:20

Oh crikey, you absolutely did the right thing to pull over in those circumstances. He was being an interfering busybody and should have offered to help you, not be nasty and rude. Arsehole.
Hope you're ok now Thanks

ithinkiveseenthisfilmbefore · 10/10/2020 13:28

What a twat. As someone said, probably the type to shout at an ambulance for parking there, too.

Of course pulling over into the first safe place with the right thing to do. I'd have told him to call the police so they could explain that to him.

SmudgeButt · 10/10/2020 13:28

Been there, done that. You were doing the best thing possible.

(try lubricating the inside of your nose with Vaseline - it does help.)

Waveysnail · 10/10/2020 13:29

He was a twat. Any normal person would have gone and got your some tissues/wet wipes

bobbiester · 10/10/2020 13:42

Police would not be interested - he was being a d*ck

thecatsthecats · 10/10/2020 13:45

Imagine being the sort of tedious twat who has nothing better to do than to stand on their rights even when it doesn't affect them.

My parents rented a holiday cottage where in order to get onto the driveway, both sides had to swing a little over the neighbouring one. EVERY time they left or returned, whatever time of day, the neighbours would come out of the front door to watch and tut and complain. The guest book was filled with complaints about them.

Imagine that being your life. How small the world inside their head must be.

Shizzlestix · 10/10/2020 14:03

God, his poor neighbours, can you imagine what a nightmare he is to live next to. He was extremely unreasonable.

QuestionableMouse · 10/10/2020 14:03

Thanks. I'm fine now. Just felt a bit shaken at the time because of the situation.

Glad you're better now. Tosser probably spends his time looking out the window looking for women victims.

Or worse still married to him. 😬

If it was a private estate, it is more likely to be an unadopted road, in which case, he couldn’t stop you from parking there.

Skysblue · 10/10/2020 15:26

He was a bully OP. Sorry you encountered him.

Medical emergency trumps yellow lines, would he have shouted at someone having a heart attack there too?

HandfulofDust · 10/10/2020 16:04

He sounds like the kind of person who camps out and waits in anticipation for someone to encroach on his precious land so he can have a go at them. You probably made his day.

QuestionableMouse · 10/10/2020 18:55

Ugh probably. Seriously dislike people like that. Life's too fucking short, ya know?
