Apologies for posting here. Not strictly an aibu but I’m hoping it will reach more people.

Dc had the nasal flu spray yesterday (fluenz tetra I believe it’s called?).

They have had it before and I cannot re call do they had any side effects. I probably wasn’t so anxious about side effects pre covid! 😬

So they had it yesterday. Dd has woke up with a mild snotty nose. Is this likely a side effect or is it too soon and maybe she’s just got a cold? She also has allergies which makes her snotty some mornings. She doesn’t seem sick but had a restless night which is unusual! Quite happy in herself and playing and wanting breakfast! Thankfully no fever.

What’s everyone else’s experiences with this??

Yes that's a known side effect.

scaevola · 10/10/2020 09:14

Yes, nasal congestion is a common reported side effect

Here is the online version of the pack information leaflet

My DD had a horrible headache and very restless night. Picked up in a day or so !

marmite79 · 10/10/2020 09:21

Thank you. I know it’s a side effect but would a day after be too soon for it to effect them?

Not even 24 hrs since having it yet!

My DD had the headache within hours of having it

Skysblue · 10/10/2020 15:04

When son had it last yr the nurse told me “they all get very snotty very quickly from this I’m afraid.”

Seems to be quite a ‘strong’ vaccine this yr, my arm was really sore for weeks from it which I’ve never had from a vaccine before. Although perhaps that was the rather inexperienced pharmacist jabbing too deep. Definitely that’s the last time I let a supermarket give me an injection!!

A girl at DC's school had a massive anaphylactic response, Blue lighted to hospital.
She's okay now and has no known allergies and has had the flu spray before.

My daughter had side effects after last year’s spray. Not had side effects previously. She had a headache, stomach ache, extreme fatigue and went off her food. Came on the evening that she’d had the spray in the morning and she missed school the following day.

Poniesandgin · 10/10/2020 15:58

Mine had an extremely runny nose, temperature and being generally off colour. Lasted 2 days after the vaccine!

HandfulofDust · 10/10/2020 15:59

Mine's never had any side effects but a snotty nose is quite a common reaction and nothing to worry about.

It's also cold season though so lots of kids will just happen to catch a bug within a day of gettibg the nasal spray.

mumpet68 · 13/12/2020 23:47

My son has had his yesterday lunch time. He was already sniffly before hand but now he's got a rash on his forehead and one red hot ear lobe and sore throat and red hot area on upper left arm with redness

BlackeyedSusan · 13/12/2020 23:57

dd felt poorly after it.

I felt a bit poorly after my injection too.

nothing to worry about.

FoxyTheFox · 14/12/2020 00:04

All of my DC had a similar reaction, snotty and a little bit headachy for a day or so then absolutely fine.
