To ask what fantasy story you play in your head?

Mine is dancing with a hot dancer in a Strictly type competition. Sometimes it’s just about dancing with a hot dancer, other times it’s about everyone I know watching me and thinking how fabulous I look and move. In reality I’m fat with two left feet dancing round the kitchen! Grin Does anyone have a fantasy scenario in their head or am I the only saddo??!

Yes I do this a lot.
Mine aren't wildly extravagant but in them I am a widow with my own small but cosy place in a posh area on the edge of the city. I have a male friend who sometimes stays over when I want company/ sex but I don't have to cook for/ clean up after, a great social life, no kids (or they've all grown up and moved on) and a nice part time job which pays the bills without being too stressful. I do lots of acting in my spare time and sit and play the piano and sing in the evenings without the neighbours complaining...

Ahhh I'm glad I'm not alone in my daydreaming! Among other stories I've had an imaginary band in my head since 1993. They ended up being quite popular in the Britpop era and had a number one hit in 1995 as well as numerous top ten singles and bestselling albums now regarded as classics of that time. I split the band up in 2000 but I still like to think about the band's happiest, wildest times and success. I have also over the years constructed backstories for each band member, including partners and families and other 'spin off dramas. I like to go into that fantasy world from time to time, usually on boring car journeys. I don't picture myself in the band but I do enjoy thinking about it, like my own weird little soap opera!

unicornparty · 11/10/2020 13:20

I've never done anything like this at all. Am I the only one?

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 11/10/2020 13:22

I’m an Olympic ice skater but I’m quite edgy. I hate all the sparkles and costumes - plain black dress and white skates is my signature look. I’m also almost getting too old but I can still keep up with the youngsters

Redcups64 · 11/10/2020 13:24

I’m a day dreamer, I have characters and plots and storyline that run through my head and been going years...the characters don’t age though. Basically eastenders is inside my head 😂

@Tiredmum100

I love this thread! I don't feel so strange now. I have a few stories I make up in my head for bedtime. Sometimes I can't wait to go to bed to 'do one of my stories'.
'Do one of my stories'! 😂😂😂

So relate to this!

Won an Oscar for what considered by all to be the greatest performance ever on screen. When accepting my Oscar (I’m very humble) I’m unable to talk as so emotional and would be pointless over the rousing standing ovation.

Have also won numerous prizes for front line reporting (In a very sensitive way) I manage to converse with locals fluently in their language on every occasion

At time’s have danced on strictly and received a standing ovation from the judges (Craig is visibly emotional and speechless)

Numerous marriages then my affairs and moving on with someone else repeat

Lottery wins and the home I would like for ds and myself (this is the most frequent now)

Great arguments and devestating put downs when I am feeling hurt by someone

I spend a lot of time lost in my daydreams

TheId · 11/10/2020 13:50

Now I wonder if anyone else will admit to this one...

I have reasonably often run my own funeral in my head. I am not suicidal or anything. I don't want to die but it's just a weird thing I do. I have worried what it means sometimes.

It's quite a detailed fantasy. I know what music and readings, who will be there, what they'll wear. Usually I have died after a brief but brave struggle with cancer or sometimes in a freak accident whilst travelling

I have never admitted to anyone that I do this. I am aware it is morbid and also boastful so I'd be ashamed to confess but I do hope I am not the only one.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 11/10/2020 13:55

Oh yes it’s quite normal

I have but it’s very detached I focus on political leaders or famous people attending (Sir David Attenborough always attends and gives a beautiful speech)

If I move on to ds being there I soon become an emotional wreck so stay away from that

IhateBoswell · 11/10/2020 13:58

These are superb.
I do quite a lot of the ones mentioned, it usually helps me get to sleep too.

IhateBoswell · 11/10/2020 14:00

Yes Theld, I’ve “done” my funerals a few times.

TheId · 11/10/2020 16:47

Ok phew not just me then

JellyNo15 · 11/10/2020 17:45

I am a best selling chicklit writer. I go on This Morning, Loose Women etc when I release a new book.I am always asked how come I look so glam and twenty years younger than I am. I am a bit of a style icon too.

Overwhelmed222 · 11/10/2020 17:48

Mine’s the one where I get into a loving relationship after my awful marriage and divorce and after being on my own for so long, except that I really can’t see it happening 😔.

AmberAndAlexsMum · 17/10/2020 17:37

I'm also a maladaptive daydreamer but I can't control it at the moment due to serious depression. My worlds are mainly fantasy, although I have a couple where I'm a really good engineer with a lovely house.

So glad I'm not alone in this, I do involve whoever I'm crushing on at the moment sometimes although I've realised my fantasy males are much sexier 😀 of course I'm slimmer and prettier in all of my dreams. I use it to escape my full, pointless existence.

WanderingMilly · 17/10/2020 17:48

Winning the lottery....millions and millions. On a good day the fantasy is how much I will give to friends and family, on a bad day it's more sinister...

I still win the lottery but offer an unresistable amount of millions to each of those people in my past who caused me great pain and distress. The catch is they must sit for 1 hour listening to my telling them every thing I should have said years ago, the whole works. And it's gong to be filmed for some sort of reality TV programme. The world will be able to watch while they cringe and squirm, not daring to answer back because of their severe greed for the money.

Sigh. It would be worth giving away the millions for....!

Bella43 · 17/10/2020 19:52

I like to imagine I'm a contestant on I'm a Celebrity. But I cut to the interview with Ant and Dec where we watch my best bits. And of course I look amazing in the jungle shower 👌

Bluesparkled · 17/10/2020 20:33

In mine I have an old stone country house, which sparkles with cleanliness and smells lightly of lemon. There is an enormous library where I sit in the mornings with coffee and the evenings with wine. I have a fabulous kitchen garden. My beans and tomatoes were excellent this year but the carrots have been disappointing. I am currently debating a formal style herb bed as opposed to a country garden style one. I am enjoying selecting edging materials for my borders.
In the evenings and sometimes at lunchtime, Sherlock Holmes (film not tv) lives there and I, of course, am extremely elegant and attractive.
IRL my house is er, not sparkling clean, I don’t grow any veg and would probably struggle to know where to start. I am very average in looks and have absolutely nothing about me that would attract any of the Sherlocks 😂

Redannie118 · 17/10/2020 20:56

Theres been some kind of virus and pretty much everyone in the world is dead. I drive up to Scotland and find this beautiful, cosy little farm in the middle of a snowy glen. I move in and im totally self sufficient, own water supply, wood burning stove etc. Theres a nearby town where i drive too and raid the luxury stores for 200 pound bottles of champagne, Chanel perfume and Jo Malone candles( plus more fluffy cushions and throws than anyone could ever need).
Ive lived in my head my whole life as my real life has always been utterly grim. My fantasies have always been me alone, end of the world type things, ever since ive been a kid. Pretty sad really :(

craftyjan · 18/10/2020 10:10

My favourite daydream is having a farm with all my favourite animals there. So I have alpacas, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, ducks, goats and a barn with owls. Also there is a river with otters in it.
Deer come to feed at night near the river. It's idyllic.
I also like to revisit childhood places in my daydreams. My childhood home is exactly as I remember it in my mind, even the contents of the drawers. Also my grandparents houses.
