To stay at my job for a company car

I’m currently on maternity leave and due back to my job in February.

I’ve worked for my company for 3 years.

I haven’t been happy for the last two years, but I’ve stuck it out for the security.
A year ago I was given a promotion to office manager, with a small pay rise along with the use of a company car, although I can’t help but think this was a way to retain me since the office manager at the time had handed her notice in and left.

The car is a great perk of the job and came at a time when my own car was having a few issues.

I get a company fuel card which saves me travel costs to and from work.

This really is the only benefit of the job.
I don’t enjoy the role, I’m bored, the office is quite bitchy, other managers aren’t nice to their teams, and the higher management aren’t that great.

I’m fortunate that my husband is a high earner and we’ve discussed me staying at home for the next year or so and taking some time out of work.

My husband has a company car which I’m not insured to drive, but we also have my old car in the garage, which would mean that would become my “daily” usage car and we’d use my husbands car at the weekends.

The thing is my company car is a BMW X1 and I love having a reliable car to drive around in.

I wouldn’t be able to afford to buy my own X1.

I really don’t want to return to my job but I really don’t want to give up my car.

Would I be silly to return just to keep it?!

If you can truly afford to live off your DH wages then go back to work but put every penny you earn in a car fund. Then hand your notice in once you’ve earned enough. That way all the shit you put up with at work will seem worth it

Stay in your job for any reason you like. I bloody hate my job but I can't be bothered to look for a new one, so I stay. Your reason is way better.
