Don’t even know where to start.

I’m a little worried that what I’ve posted so far makes me recognisable but what I’m going to post makes the sellers from hell recognisable so I’m not sure of the best way to go about it.

OP posts:

There seems to be a lot of this kind of murkiness going on OP. You’ve posted nothing recognisable and you’ve not named them.

Crack on!

nibdedibble · 08/10/2020 21:23

What a pair of bastards! You are so well out of it where that sale is concerned, @Quandaries

Is this the first time I’ve felt mildly sorry for an EA?

ShalomToYouJackie · 08/10/2020 21:23

Why on Earth did they let you spend all that money on the surveys etc?!

VinylDetective · 08/10/2020 21:23

It would be a complete no brainer for me. I’d definitely be team EA. Not only have they behaved despicably to you but they’ve ripped him off too. They deserve everything coming to them. Bastards.

MaggieFS · 08/10/2020 21:23

Cross posted. What CF! And they've given themselves a ton of hard work to do when they could be exchanged by now. Idiots.

Take your time to think about it, but I'd probably give the statement. If the EA starts legal proceedings, I don't know if they could compel you to anyway?

Neron · 08/10/2020 21:23

I would do the statement for the EA.

MiddleClassProblem · 08/10/2020 21:23

I’d do the statement. Any chance of them having some repercussions, I’d be going for it.

What cunts! I bet that house has bad vibes lol.

BluebellsGreenbells · 08/10/2020 21:23

You may be able to join forces and get some of your money back as well!!

Deep breath - anything else on the market?

SourMilkGhyll · 08/10/2020 21:23

Bah. Missed the update.

RealBecca · 08/10/2020 21:24

Unless the EA wants to share the commission to help cover your costs I wouldn't waste any more time.

Travis1 · 08/10/2020 21:24

I’d support the estate agent op and write the statement

ThousandsAreSailing · 08/10/2020 21:24

Make the statement, you are not lying and neither is the EA

Justjoshin22 · 08/10/2020 21:24

Dirty, cheeky, stinking wallopers! I agree with PP, I’d help the EA out. They’ve been really underhand. Plus, hopefully he will keep you top of his ‘heads up’ list when the next amazeballs house comes on the market.

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 08/10/2020 21:24

As in give the statement. Smile

Peregrina · 08/10/2020 21:25

Do you need to do anything except submit the info to the EA? You have wasted time and money, and the EA has lost his fee.

They have asked for an increase of £75K - did I read that right?

rslsys · 08/10/2020 21:25

What portion of his commission is the EA offering you in exchange for you helping him? Enough to cover your expenses so far?

NameChangeAgain222 · 08/10/2020 21:25

I would do the statement. They deserve it.

mamangelo · 08/10/2020 21:27

Absolutely do the statement, you are telling the truth and have done nothing wrong. I wouldn’t worry about them maybe being on mumsnet either... you have nothing to feel ashamed of they on the other hand....

Longwhiskers14 · 08/10/2020 21:27

I would do the statement. It won't cost you anything else and it will help the EA recoup his fees, which the cheeky gits definitely should be paying him. I can't believe they've re-marketed it themselves using the agency material! The EA sounds like he's behaved decently so why should he lose out too?

diddl · 08/10/2020 21:27

@RealBecca

Unless the EA wants to share the commission to help cover your costs I wouldn't waste any more time.
I'm afraid that that's how I'd feel.

Why would a statement be needed.

Have enough steps not been gone through that he can prove it??

Staffy1 · 08/10/2020 21:29

It's odd that they stopped communicating with the EA before they knew you had withdrawn you offer. Do you think they are on MN? Either way, they are arses, I would support the EA in this.

chillied · 08/10/2020 21:29

75k more! surely they won't find anyone who will offer it?

littlecatfeet · 08/10/2020 21:29

@rslsys

What portion of his commission is the EA offering you in exchange for you helping him? Enough to cover your expenses so far?
This is the kind of attitude the sellers would embrace.

I'd give the agent a statement, just the dry facts, it's the right thing to do.

Marmunia1975 · 08/10/2020 21:30

The EA could definitely sue on copyright pics grounds. I don't think he has any control over them going solo. They can do what they want. What makes him think he has lost commission?? Just curious.

RhymesWithOrange · 08/10/2020 21:30

Yeah, support the EA, it's not their fault and you never know when you might want their good will in the future.
