Follow-up to www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4041606-AIBU-to-walk-away-from-this-house-purchase

Don’t even know where to start.

I’m a little worried that what I’ve posted so far makes me recognisable but what I’m going to post makes the sellers from hell recognisable so I’m not sure of the best way to go about it.

My watch button doesn't work so I have to leave this here.

littlecatfeet · 08/10/2020 21:10

I read all the last thread, OP, and got mad on your behalf! I have been wanting to say, if the sellers come groveling back, in your shoes I would think of something that would give you some satisfaction in the new house - hot tub? Fantastic new appliances or furnishings? - and subtract that amount from your original offer.
It would take the sting out.

Although, if the EA wants your assistance I am guessing he's worked out that "cash buyer" is a friend/family member and he has been cheated out of a commission. He probably wants a signed statement from you.

Also, solidarity about Fry's Turkish delight.

Noshowlomo · 08/10/2020 21:11

God they’ve been extra CFers haven’t they?

Merryoldgoat · 08/10/2020 21:12

Just read the last thread.

Safe to say I’ll be hitting refresh here for the next few hours Blush

Staffy1 · 08/10/2020 21:13

CFer sounds to mild in this case unless you change the C word to a more appropriate one.

Ooh please let us know what the estate agent says. I've been shamelessly so invested in this thread!

I hope you manage to find your forever home soon 🏡

sapnupuas · 08/10/2020 21:15

We've literally all been waiting all afternoon for this...

Staffy1 · 08/10/2020 21:16

@Abigboydiditandranaway, not necessarily, the OP might just be trying to find a way to word it which isn't too outing.

FizzyPink · 08/10/2020 21:16

Shameless placemarking because I need to know!

This is horrible they did this to you op x

Quandaries · 08/10/2020 21:18

I had a good chat with the EA. He’s now 100% sure that NB was a friend or relative used to drive up bidding. Neither the sellers or NB have been in contact with him.

He’s asked me to submit a statement confirming all the steps taken and that I am a legitimate buyers who bid in good consciousness (which I did/m- I paid the deposit, showed all info from my bank etc).

Basically, the sellers have now taken all of the EA’s pics of the house and have listed it directly themselves on selling websites, at an asking price of over £75k in excess of what I originally offered.

The EA wants to pursue them for his commission on the grounds that he delivered them a legitimate buyer.

I’m not sure what to do.

Take the weekend to think about it

MaggieFS · 08/10/2020 21:20

It's unlikely anyone would be able to identify the sellers amongst everyone in the Milky Way/Galaxy, plus it might even give you a Boost to keep sharing, however if you are concerned it will cause Ripples then of course you don't have to share the update.

BadEyeBri · 08/10/2020 21:20

Sweet jaysus on a bicycle I hope he sues their arses off.

Merryoldgoat · 08/10/2020 21:20

I’d give the statement. Why wouldn’t you?

Sheepareawesome · 08/10/2020 21:20

Well you tell everybody at the school gates for a start...

Support the EA; they are not actively trying to screw him out of his commission because they tried to fraudulently (fake new buyer) get you to offer more money.

Fuckers.

44PumpLane · 08/10/2020 21:22

You've already lost the house, I'd help the EA as much as you can as then you'd get the satisfaction of knowing that although they screwed you over that you helped someone else avoid being screwed over by them. Bear

Jigglypuffler · 08/10/2020 21:22

Give the statement! Why wouldn't you?

And yes to PP saying to spread the word ay the gates as well! 😁

SourMilkGhyll · 08/10/2020 21:22

Please spill the beans.
Nothing you have written is identifying. Just use made up names and a made up location if you need to.

senua · 08/10/2020 21:22

The EA wants to pursue them for his commission on the grounds that he delivered them a legitimate buyer.
Isn't there a documented paper trail between the two sets of solicitors?

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 08/10/2020 21:22

The process you went though was very stressful. In all your posts there was never a suggestion that the agent was in cohorts with the sellers. I would give a statement and hope the agent uses it to sue the sellers. The sellers behaved badly. In order for behaviour like that not to be replicated there need to be consequences.

Please give a statement.
