To expect amazon Delivery am. to ring bell once

Was just in the bath when there was non stop ringing of my door bell and loud persistent knocking on my door. It went on and on and on - I assumed it was an emergency.

I got out of the bath, very quickly dressed and ran down stores stubbing my toe on the way. If was the bloody amazon delivery guy who laughed and said That was unfortunate.

I snapped he could have left it on the doorstep and snatched if off him and slammed the door.

I do feel guilty now, I am never rude. But I honesty thought there was some dire emergency. I live alone, a single house down a dark driveway. I really shouldn’t Have answered the door but I worried it was a family member.

Think my amazon habit has to end.

You need to go onto your Amazon account and set up your delivery instructions to leave packages in a safe place. I get Amazon deliveries daily pretty much (🤭) and they knock once then put the item in the porch

Ideasplease322 · 08/10/2020 21:30

I do have that setting. They usually leave them in the porch. This idiot went rogue!

My toe is still throbbing.

Too Tip! Simply chop off your toe, package it up in a nice little box, and send it to Amazon as a return.

liverbird10 · 08/10/2020 21:32

*Top.

I hate autocorrect.

Ideasplease322 · 08/10/2020 21:34

I left him a bad review. And checked my delivery preferences haven’t changed.

They haven’t.

I get packages regularly and they are always left at the door, maybe a light knock. Why ten minutes battering down the door?

It was a book, not need to sign for it.

All our deliveries are requested no contact, but we have one grocery driver who rings the bell over and over. We even put a sign on the door reminding that we want contactless delivery. Drives me crazy.

Our amazon drivers can’t be bothered to knock or ring the bell. It’s the biggest reason we bought a doorbell camera. We bought one before the company was purchased by amazon, but I do have to wonder if the lack of knock is a conspiracy to get people to buy door cameras. N

I take it that you have never been part of the gig economy?

He doesn't get paid if he doesn't deliver. If it gets lost stolen- he doesn't get paid. He is probably doing this job alongside a series of others. He is paid a pittance.

OxAl82 · 08/10/2020 21:44

I’d take that over my delivery from Next the other day. The courier decided ten to midnight was an acceptable time to deliver my parcel I’d waited all day for. I was in bed and thought it was an emergency when the door went , then my mobile, to tell me he had my delivery😳😬

Audreyseyebrows · 08/10/2020 21:50

I’m sure you would have complained if he hadn’t left it too!

I left him a bad review
That’s awful! He was just doing his job!

I have a note that I pop on my door for when I don’t want to be disturbed asking people not to ring the doorbell unless it’s an emergency. If they did I might be a bit put out but wouldn’t leave them a bad review or complain!

Ideasplease322 · 08/10/2020 21:52

I have done many jobs in my time. But I would never repeatedly ring and hammer at someone’s door for ten full minutes (which is a long time).

Particularly when there are clear instructions that he parcel should be left at the door.

And particularly not after dark.

I have cooled down now, but was just really cross. The pain in the toe wasn’t helping,

gamerchick · 08/10/2020 21:56

Yeah parcel volume has gone up again. I feel sorry for drivers, they're damned if they do...

Ideasplease322 · 08/10/2020 21:57

But also taking on board the comments saying I was unreasonable.

I lost my temper because my lovely bath (after a really shitty week) was ended so abruptly (beciase I thought someone was in mortal danger!). That I have only shaved one leg. And my toe still aches.

But maybe I shouldn’t have said I wasn’t happy with the review. I always give a thumbs up, so it seemed reasonable to give a thumbs down on this occasion. Maybe I should have left it a day.

Maybe my life is so small at the minute I am letting silly things annoy me.

OP posts:
liverbird10 · 08/10/2020 22:06

In all seriousness, leaving him a bad review was nasty and unnecessary. It's not his fault you were in the bath. He was just doing his job.

Ideasplease322 · 08/10/2020 22:11

Okay. But is it his job to ring the bed for ten minutes straight? Is that reasonable?

Most people ring One once or twice then leave the parcel in line with instructions.

Why Is it okay to ring a bell And bang a door for ten minutes?

It’s a really, really long time.

seayork2020 · 08/10/2020 22:15

I would assume it is because then there can't be complaints 'I never heard them knock and now my parcel has gone missing'

I dont think delivery drivers can ever get it right it seems

AvoidingRealHumans · 08/10/2020 22:16

Bloody hell you couldn't have been that concerned about an emergency, leaving them to ring the bell for 10 minutes.
They'd be dead and buried by that point.

Okbye · 08/10/2020 22:19

YANBU op, I totally agree with you! It's one of my biggest pet hates when delivery drivers insist on ringing the bell over and over and banging relentlessly on the door! You can hear the bell works, why not just ring it once and wait a moment for me to answer the door! Ugh, it does my head in and I have told a few of them that the doorbell obviously works so there's no need to try and break down the door!

SweetPetrichor · 08/10/2020 22:20

I assume you knew you bought the item...and that it would be delivered. It’s on you to actually answer the door!

Ideasplease322 · 08/10/2020 22:20

I have hurt my leg so had it covered and over the side of the bath. Was a bit of a faff to get into the bath and then get out, probably shouldn’t have bothered.

I ignored the knocking at first, it was only when it continued and became insistent that I extracted myself from the bath, pulled on some clothes and went downstairs.

But point taken, I shouldn’t have given him a thumbs Down. I saw red and should have been calmer

I will bow out now, accepting I was in the wrong.

Good night all.

this ^

I wish more delivery people would put a bit more effort into knocking. We quite often get a card through the door when we were in and they must have just tickled the door rather than knocked.
Then there are others that - even when I walk briskly to the door - are getting back into their car. Not sure what people with mobility issues are supposed to do.

I have huge sympathy for delivery drivers - paid a pittance to complete an unrealistic schedule.

Ideasplease322 · 08/10/2020 22:27

Okay, I have conceded I was in the wrong, what more do you want from me.

I will see if i can can take back the thumbs down.

PestymcPestFace · 08/10/2020 22:32

I'm really jealous your Amazon man knocks. Ours just lobs the stuff over the (high) wall into the rockery.

The Yodel man parks up in the car park opposite and sends a failed delivery message. I'm onto him, yesterday I managed to get a failed delivery message and the parcel. I may have been loitering in the car park like some kind of demented stalker Blush

The downside of deliveries is they have to be delivered.

Ten full minutes? So you didn’t rush down stairs at the speed of light after all?
Ideasplease322 · 08/10/2020 22:46

I explained this. I have a wound on my leg That I was trying to keep dry so it took a while to extract myself from the bath. I should have kept my phone by the bath and called a family member to come round And see what the problem was.

But again I have accepted I was a bad tempered bitch.

Than you all
