Aibu to be annoyed with carers

I have carers due to my mental health and due to covid in our area they have put new rules in that I cant go shopping with them, so they had to do it for me today will online shop from now on. My hours are also less then it is said I need, i get 6 and a half hours a week and so far lost out on an hour and a half this week. This has been the case throughout covid which i do understand however i have to pay towards them due to getting esa and pip and i still have to pay the full amount while not getting the hours. I think it's annoying me more as I'm waiting to find out if my hours are being upped due to people thinking I need more support. I cant work out if I'm being unreasonable because obviously a pandemic is ongoing.

Are you annoyed at the carers or the council? Surely it's not the carers' decision?

Chocolatethief · 07/10/2020 23:25

@Howlooseisyourgoose I dont know who has made the rules the carer I had today said she didnt understand the managers new rules which makes me think it's the company but I cant be sure.

It would be the company, yes. Can you contact them to check? And mention about loss of hours and can they suggest a way round that?

BusyBB · 07/10/2020 23:41

I'm a carer and we have a blanket rule not to take anyone out anywhere that they are in contact with the public.
You seem much more able than the people I care for, but perhaps there are other less able service users or they want to minimize the amount of people in the shop to allow social distancing? Either way, it will be the organisations decision not the individual carers! Hope they get you what you want from the shop, or could you do an online shop instead?

BusyBB · 07/10/2020 23:42

Ah, just seen that you will shop online from now on. Sorry!

Chocolatethief · 07/10/2020 23:46

Yes I understand it's not the individual carers and it's not against them they are amazing and the majority are them are so helpful. At the start of lockdown they said the hours would be banked and added on when possible but I'm losing on average 2 hours a week which doesnt seem possible to catch up really. I also rarely spend 40 on a shop so online will be difficult for me. The hours at the moment are suppose to be for getting me out and about well in normal times obviously and this isnt. I am very isolated at the moment they are the only people that I see really so it's very hard. I just cant work out if I'm unreasonable for being annoyed about it especially when I'm paying almost 300 a month which is a big chunk of the money I recieve. I do also realise how lucky i am to recieve any support at all but it does affect my mental health and during covid i have had 4 inpatient admissions.

I spoke to my care coordinator today as I had to check about hours which are going up but dont know by how much she said my hours should not be less fue to covid as I still require the support and she will contact the council about it as they are still taking the full cost and it's not correct and she said the council will not be ok with it.

Not sure if this is e same situation for you but my MIL has carers in 3 times a day but they were cutting short their visits, ie spending 30 mins instead of an hour, they said it was due to being short staffed. She complained to the company and got the bill adjusted accordingly.

Chocolatethief · 08/10/2020 23:30

In my case they are staying for as long as they are told to stay it's the manager that is cutting the visits down and told we have to pay full.

Did the manager tell you this or did the careers?
Chocolatethief · 08/10/2020 23:48

I've spoke to both but they only get paid for the time that they are with me they have an app on there phones that they log in and out with and can be tracked on it so they wouldn't get away with lying.
