I'm a bit of a long term lurker and don't usually post.. but I find AIBU one of the most interesting places on the internet Blush Had a few terrible weeks in and out of hospital and just think that scrolling through all the weird and wonderful threads and opinions is a great way to escape from reality and get away from some of my own anxiety! AIBU or am I the only one..?

I agree

Sorry about your hospital stays Thanks

It's an insight into how other people live their lives. Sometimes I think 'There but for the grace of God...', other threads reassure me that I'm not that much of a slattern, then there's the ones where the OP is so pearl-clutchy it's hilarious and from time to time, there's even some really useful information.

It's like a sweary issue of Woman's Own!

This is by far my favorite place to wile away an hour (or three!) on the internet. The variety!

DorisDances · 07/10/2020 22:19

I spend far too much time on here and get really interested in woods being stolen, fence disputes and MILs wanting to muscle in on new grandchildren! On a serious note, I have learnt a lot about the reality of abusive relationships and inequities around finances.

StanfordPines · 07/10/2020 22:20

I love it.

The funny thing is I get hugely invested in threads and then once the op stops posting I forget all about it.

Bluewho2 · 07/10/2020 22:31

YANBU. This place is my guilty pleasure, best enjoyed once DC are asleep and I've got tea and a doughnut healthy snack. I just scroll and read and escape.

SallyLovesCheese · 07/10/2020 22:33

Only when there's a parking thread!

HubbabubbaT · 07/10/2020 22:51

Exactly how I feel @ViciousJackdaw ! And yes I've learnt a lot here too @DorisDances .. you just never know what on earth is going to come up next Grin

I do love it Grin Sometimes I despair at some of the comments - particularly when someone comments on a legal or medical point with an air of great authority, despite being completely wrong - but I also enjoy some real laugh out loud moments. Some of the storming hear here truly fascinated me. I’m also genuinely impressed at how compassionate and helpful people can be on here, despite AIBU’s reputation!

Perfectly put. Though I'd say even trashier entertainment. "Take a Break" or "Thats Life!" at the very least.

"Moroccan love rat half my age took all my savings!" doesn't have a patch on AIBU.

HubbabubbaT · 08/10/2020 14:22

Yes @StillCoughingandLaughing ! A lot of people make comments about how you'll get slaughtered if you post on AiBU.. or watch out put your big girl pants on etc etc.. but I reckon for every nasty or unpleasant comment there's always several balanced and thoughtful opinions.

YANBU but I must try to get some work done arggghh

HubbabubbaT · 08/10/2020 14:27

@DynamoKev Grin it's such a time waster but too interesting to stop scrolling sometimes isn't it Grin ..I'm trying to get a toddler to nap and I have a heap of washing to sort .. but I'm 'busy' at the moment Grin
