To drink a bottle of Bailey’s 2.5 years out of date?!

To be precise, it’s a 500ml bottle of Bailey’s Chocolat Luxe, and it would be a crime to waste it. I’d have no qualms if it were a mere 1.5 years old, but it has BBE 05/18 on the base.

It’s unopened, and unrefridgerated. AIBU to look forward to it at the weekend? I would have it over ice of course, so presumably that might kill some germs*

I can’t decide so need MN to be definitive for me...

Just check for chunks.

I speak from experience....

YABU to let it go off it the first place, wouldn't last long in my house lol😜
As long as it looks smells and tastes alright though it'll be fine, just check for lumps etc. Enjoy, just make sure there's a backup plan😉

Not all at once.

You may even struggle to get it out of the bottle!

TeapotCollection · 11/10/2020 14:40

Was it ok OP?

Baileys® is the only cream liqueur that guarantees its taste for 2 years from the day it was made, opened or unopened, stored in the in the fridge or not when stored away from direct sunlight at a temperature range of 0-25 degrees centigrade. ... Under normal conditions of storage Baileys has a shelf-life of 30 months.

This might be helpful.

It actually was OK! Poured out of the bottle no problem; I did the sniff test and had some tiny sips and it tasted absolutely fine. Then we drank most of the bottle and only quite drunk but also a sugar high Blush

Very glad I didn’t throw it away unopened; I didn’t keep the remainder but more because I couldn’t look at it the next day Grin Thank you all for the advice!

My dad was going to drink a very out of date Baileys miniature once (I was begging him not to). When he opened it it wouldn't come out of the bottle - he had to shake it out and it fell into a lump of jelly in the glass. I begged him "don't do it" - he just tasted it to his lips and said "it's bloody horrible!".
Hope you have no ill effects OP!
