At 50 I ached all the time. Particularly first thing, until I got moving and my ankles were worst - I hobbled.

Vitamin D was very low. Since I sorted that, I have no generalised aching unless I have done something strenuous. And I'm 65 now.

@GiraffeNecked
You asked about my vitamin D dosage. I take colecalciferol. I'm in NZ and in New Zealand, colecalciferol is available as capsules (1.25 milligrams). It is a prescription medicine here and I presume in the UK. (You might wonder why a New Zealander would need vitamin D but we tend to be into heavy duty sunblocks to prevent skin cancer and this stops the formation of vitamin D.)

I’m 57, slim, fit, do a lot of exercise of all kinds. I’m on HRT plus vitamin supplements and have lots of aches and niggles. My meno specialist is trying to get me off sugar as she says that’s inflammatory, but I’m a hardened addict 🤷‍♀️👵🏻

Saracen · 18/10/2020 13:33

I'm 50ish, very unfit and overweight. I don't ache much, and if I do I can usually attribute it directly to something I've just done: sat in front of computer all day = backache, long walk = aching feet.

bibbitybobbitycats · 18/10/2020 13:40

I ache a lot, some days more than other. Sitting too long makes it worse. I have an iffy thyroid though. Going to the gym helps.

bibbitybobbitycats · 18/10/2020 13:41

That's intersting about the sugar, Josephine. I don't eat much of it, but might try cutting down on what I do eat.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 18/10/2020 13:43

I’m nearly 50 and obese. I walk or cycle most days (until I sweat). The only aches I have are from having buggered Achilles’ tendons which I’ve had for years. Other than that I’m fine, I don’t feel any different to when I was 30. I forget how old I am, then look in the mirror and feel depressed 😄

Babyroobs · 18/10/2020 13:49

I'm fat and in my fifties and menopausal and I ache everywhere.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 18/10/2020 13:54

My elbow aches at times, but I have a slow-healing injury in one arm.

My other aches have been largely sorted by a physiotherapist. Brutal, but effective.

Nichola2310 · 18/10/2020 13:55

I ache a lot, in various different places, but almost always have an issue somewhere....I'm only 36, but my mum is the same so I think it's hereditary.

I've been having achy legs a lot recently, so went out for a walk yesterday as I thought that would help, and took a pain in my foot, limping since!

DolphinsAndNemesis · 18/10/2020 14:02

No aches at all, fortunately (touch wood). Except for headaches, including occasional migraines.

raspberryk · 18/10/2020 14:34

I’m full of aches and pains, early 30’s, I think I have been for 5 years maybe longer.

lightlypoached · 18/10/2020 14:50

I'm mid 50s, fit and not fat.

I exercise 4-5 times a week.

I generally have an ache somewhere or other. Kind of irritating but I guess it goes with the territory of a body that's working hard and has a few miles on the clock ?

AuntieMarys · 18/10/2020 14:53

I'm 60 and don't ache...but did at 50. I do lots of strength stuff at the gym, take turmeric vit D and magnesium.
