I am utterly utterly sick of it. Currently in the gruelling game of applying for jobs, mostly with indeed.

You match the skills, they send you a selection of ridiculous little tests that are irrelevant but the organisation wants you to do it. Fine, spend ages doing the test to then have no idea how you did.

Then radio silence - completely ignored.

Not even a ‘thanks but no thanks’

Around an hour it takes to apply for one of these jobs, with CV editing, cover letter and then these pointless bloody tests and they still can’t be bothered to send a no thanks message.

AIBU to think that employers who request these tests have no value for your time and my ability to tell which dotted elephant comes next in a series of elephants is entirely unrelated to how good I am at finance?

And that these employers should have a bit of respect for the fact that people took time to research their company and do all the related agro and atleast set up a generic ‘no fucking thanks’ email??

Feeling completely despondent.

And then when you finally get an interview it's in a group and they want you to build an Eiffel Tower from straws and paper or something equally as insufferable

Yes!! I didn’t even mention the worst one, they showed up late to the interview, got me to do 2 more tests on top of the questions and then told me that I was perfect but the jobs going to the internal candidate who has covered the position for the last 10 months anyway. Angry

Yet at our place we’ve had over 6 not turn up for their Zoom interview (further to a telephone interview) and are struggling to recruit 🙁
