to ask what does MS PRS means?

It's in an email address that shows up the person's name.

So say it's John Smith, the email address shows up in the following format SMITH, John (MS PRS)

First name is a man's name, so it can't be that it's a Ms.

Some way to distinguish from another John Smith perhaps?

In a large company I worked for the department you worked in was in brackets after your name - could it be that?

VeggieSausageRoll · 06/10/2020 10:07

Something to do with his role? I work for a large company and we have a Jane Smith in advertising and a Jane Smith in HR. Advertising Jane Smith was getting sent confidential information for HR Jane Smith in error so a similar change was made to distinguish between the two.

DH had to gave his location added to his email address to distinguish between the two of the same name so he was John Smith(London) and the other guy was John Smith (New York). Much better than the John X Smith and John B Smith we had at ours.

Might be a company name. What would PRS mean then if a department? Public relations something-or-another?

Could be a professional qualification. MS is Master of Science.

Something to do with Microsoft? They have (had?) something called Problem Resolution Support. It may have been a way for the IT dept to identify which users are allocated specific licensing benefits.

Ok, well I guess it will remain a mystery and that it's inhouse speak not intended to mean much to outsiders. I thought it might be something obvious that I wasn't aware of.

What type of industry does he work in, could be a professional qualification or accreditation

Dancingwithdaftness · 06/10/2020 11:45

It's a large multi-faceted construction and engineering company. I don't actually know what area of the company he is in as he was just copied on an email to me so I didn't see his signature.

PRS in the construction industry does stand for Private Rental Sector, could he be something like a section lead for that bit of the company? If you’re desperate, PM me their name and company and I’ll look them up on a LinkedIn for you and there won’t be a link to you if he looks at the “who has viewed my profile”

Why not email [email protected] and politely ask?
