I'm around 2-3 stone over weight, if I wear jeans and a top I feel really uncomfortable like I can't move right, I much prefer track suit bottoms and a t shirt, my clothes aren't to small they are the right size I just feel so uncomfortable! Could this be the extra weight I have or just me ?

Jeans are never going to be as comfortable as track suit bottoms, I don't think its to do with weight. Have you tried stretchy jeans or jeggins? that's what I usually wear

2me2u2u2me · 05/10/2020 11:31

I think when you're overweight everything feels tight and uncomfortable. I'm dieting at the mo as I have put on a few extra pounds over lockdown.

What do you mean your clothes aren't too small? My clothes weren't too small when I bought them but now I'm carrying extra weight they are. My skinny jeans are soooo tight on my legs I can't wear them, my other jeans are too tight on the waist so when I sit they dig in. The only problem with wearing joggers, which I do too, is that you feel so comfortable in them you forget you need to lose weight.

Also, you could be a similar weight on the scales but have put on inches so clothes are tight. I definitely think it's the extra weight you're carrying that is making you feel like you do.

2me2u2u2me · 05/10/2020 11:31

Ps, My skinny jeans are stretchy, but still really uncomfortable now I've put weight on.

PawPawNoodle · 05/10/2020 11:35

I say this as an overweight person - if you can't move properly then your clothes are too small. You might need to find a different cut of jean to make things more comfortable for you.

BorisandHarriet · 05/10/2020 11:37

I’m not overweight but also find jeans uncomfortable in general.

Spinakker · 05/10/2020 11:37

Yes I'm about 2 stone overweight and pretty much can't wear jeans unless they are elastic waist. it's a sure sign you need to go on a diet !

movingonup20 · 05/10/2020 11:38

My clothes are uncomfortable but only because I haven't bought a larger size despite putting weight on. Cramming into jeans is never comfortable

blissfulllife · 05/10/2020 11:39

Jeggings are the way forward x

Spinakker · 05/10/2020 11:39

In the meantime try jeans from lands end with elasticated waist or also starfish black jersey trousers bootleg are fab for a smarter trouser than a jogger with a comfortable waist band which actually supports your belly !

gubbbbbddaaaa · 05/10/2020 11:43

Yes .. ring fat is very uncomfortable.. I don't think thin people appreciate that! I've recently lost 2.5 stone and life is much
More comfy!!

pepperaunt · 05/10/2020 11:43

After living in yoga pants for 6 months I find I can only wear my jeans if I unbutton the button (luckily my belts still fit so I can keep them up😁)

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 05/10/2020 11:43

It could depend where you have put the weight on?

But tbh I have been thin and I have been fat and I have been middling, and jeans are just not comfy things. They're designed to be workwear, so comfortable and resilient for doing physical work, not for sitting about at a desk working from home.

GabsAlot · 05/10/2020 12:02

yes i used to wear jeans they just made me feel crap now i wear leggings i know what mn thinks of them but i dont care most comfrotable things ever

Girlzroolz · 05/10/2020 12:04

For sure feeling comfy in my own clothes is my major motivator for losing weight. 2-3kg makes the difference with weekend clothes feeling good, but by then office/work clothes are mostly too tight (let alone my going out and sexy clothes!).

I always want to get dressed, do every button/zip up with no effort or doubt, and feel yummy in the outside world. Even alone I want comfort and a bit of style (unless I’m doing garden jobs, etc).

I think as soon as normal waisted jeans feel uncomfortable, it’s the sign that life changes are needed. I drop carbs & butter from my meals and up my walking (plus I wear ankle and wrist weights while I’m at home doing housework or tv).

LindaEllen · 05/10/2020 12:05

I'm not very overweight (but definitely a little!) and I agree. Over lockdown I have become far too comfortable in my trackies. Over the past few weeks I've purposefully tried not to wear them and to put my jeans on instead, but they're soooo tempting.

Laiste · 05/10/2020 12:08

Do you mean jeans OP?

Jeggins is what you want.

Having said that - as a person who's weight has yo yo'd over the years i would beware of sucumming to living in a 'fat uniform'. Too long in comfy lose clothes will not help a drive to lose a few pounds.

VeniceQueen2004 · 05/10/2020 12:09

Being fat is not pleasant (experience here!) Our bodies are not supposed to be this way and it's bloody uncomfortable. Strain on knees, back, feet, waistbands on tailored trousers digging in, button shirts either bagging or straining in one place depending on where they fit the other... It's not a glamorous life!

I live much of my life in stretchy jersey as it lets me forget the state I've gotten into. You can still look quite smart as there are a lot of options - joggers are not what I'd go for personally as I wouldn't feel nice in them. But leggings and a jersey dress? My uniform!

Teenageromance · 05/10/2020 12:15

I’m not overweight at all and the older I’ve got the more I hate wearing jeans. Maybe it’s body shape changing

BashfulClam · 05/10/2020 12:16

I wear walking trousers mostly as I hate how restrictive jeans feel.

AgentJohnson · 05/10/2020 12:19

I’m not overweight but it’s all about the fit, especially when buying jeans.

dontdisturbmenow · 05/10/2020 12:21

I feel like this and I'm not overweight. I hate how clothes traps me so as soon as I'm hope I put very loose comfy clothes, sadly rarely flattering!

OohThatCat · 05/10/2020 12:28

Yes I feel like this, I mostly now live in dresses and tights, or leggings and tops if I can get away with it!

bilbodog · 05/10/2020 12:34

I.m about 3 stone overweight - its about finding the right shape and size jeans. I have some size 18 and some 20. Ive eventually found some at M&S Which work for me but i Also find high rise works better When you are overweight too. Dont try and stick rigidly to the size you think you are - just wear what fits Comfortably.

MinaMurray · 05/10/2020 12:45

I suspect that you’re not wearing the right size or style of jeans.

I’m more overweight than you are and I wear jeans a lot. They don’t have as much give in them as tracksuit bottoms or leggings, but if you get jeans that are the right size and style for you they’re comfortable enough. Like a pp said, don’t stick rigidly to the clothes size you think you are, try a few sizes / styles and go for what’s comfortable.

neversayalways · 05/10/2020 12:47

Wear dresses. I am not overweight but spent most of my life with terrible bloating (until I discovered the fodmap diet). Once I started wearing dresses instead of trousers I was sooooo much more comfortable. A good dress is as comfy as total nakeness! Bliss!
