To think that calling a pupil referral unit the "Phoenix Centre" is someone having a larf?

Doesn't it imply that all the attendees are arsonists? And doesn't it invite them to revel in their incendiary status? And if they're not arsonists, doesn't it invite them to become one?

erm, no

rising reborn and renewed from the ashes of their old selves

ackserley !

LittleBella · 11/10/2007 12:32

That did cross my mind, but I thought it was slightly unfortunate. Couldn't they have found another renewal/ re-birth analogy?

I just LOLed when I saw it. Had visions of loads of kids with boxes of matches in their pockets going in every day.

Indiechick · 11/10/2007 13:43

Are you talking about the one in Bromley? It's a name that's always made me laugh.

pooka · 11/10/2007 13:45

I know the centre. The name never made me laugh. Always thought the name had far more to do with the "phoenix from the flames" than anything else.

LittleBella · 11/10/2007 16:59

Well I'm sure it does, the phoenix from the flames stuff, indeed. That's what made me larf. I suppose I'm concentrating on the flames, rather than the rising from.

Is there one in Bromley? I came across one in somewhere like Longfield or Longbourne or somewhere, in Kent.
