Is there genuinely ANYONE who could afford to get a couple of weeks shopping into the house, who hasn't?

And if so, WHY?

I think some of the ‘preppers’ need to stockpile some blood pressure medication - they certainly seem to need it Wink

Yesthesearemymonkeys · 05/10/2020 17:08

Are you hard of thinking, or just trying to pick a fight?

I suspect the latter @CrunchyNutNC but either way we’re wasting our breath.

bellinisurge · 05/10/2020 17:09

I think your fizzing about other people's choices suggests you are the one with the issue.

Bwlch · 05/10/2020 17:09

I got sucked into the madness last time, and ended up buying extra, which I'm still working my way through

Still? How much extra did you buy?

Janevaljane · 05/10/2020 17:10

Can't we all just shop differently?! Does it really matter?? As long as we aren't the arseholes clearing the shelves of loo roll then surely it's all good.

bellinisurge · 05/10/2020 17:11

If you bought the wrong stuff, that's your foolishness.

Aridane · 05/10/2020 17:12

Exactly, @Janevaljane!

Welikebeingcosy · 05/10/2020 17:13

I don't because I don't live on tins, frozen food and pasta- I eat fresh fruit and vegetables.

If fresh food didnt exist I'd probably stock up for a year each year anyway just to save going to the shops...

bellinisurge · 05/10/2020 17:15

Love fresh food. Which is why I grow a bit of veg in my little garden.

CrunchyNutNC · 05/10/2020 17:15

Why would you buy what you don't use?

I have several packets of fresh pasta in the freezer (bought on bogof so made especial sense), but no dried pasta because we don't eat dried pasta.

VinylDetective · 05/10/2020 17:20

@MahaliaJ

There's always mince!

And thst happens to me all the time - no aubergines? Damn. Ok,.something else then. It's really not a problem

There isn’t. There was no meat whatsoever the week after lockdown. Or pasta or rice and the tinned food aisles were bare too.
bellinisurge · 05/10/2020 17:22

I practiced a few meals from Jack Monroe's Tin Can Cook- now we have some shelf stable faves. Who did I hurt doing that?

Bwlch · 05/10/2020 17:25

I think it must have been regional because I don't remember having a problem getting anything I needed, even flour.

gamerchick · 05/10/2020 17:28

@Janevaljane

I got sucked in by the brexit preppers. Won't bother again. As I said, I had a broken ankle during lockdown and we also live a 20 min drive from the nearest shop. We are a family of 5 and we managed fine.
Brexit hasnt happened yet.

But you know that don’t you?

I'm starting to wonder. It's either a wind up or a bit dim. I'd like to think wind up though Grin

I'd really like to know where this magic area is where you are that didn't have empty shelves and plenty of delivery slots.
Ashdownstar · 05/10/2020 17:30

I don't live on tinned food and pasta either. But I'll eat it if there's no fresh stuff available.
I don't know why there's all the angst anyway. A few people on one thread on one forum are discussing whether or not it's wise to get stocks built up.
There aren't any shortages at min - so anyone buying a bit extra based on this discussion isn't panic buying. Unless they are going out clearing shelves which is very unlikely.

Lincslady53 · 05/10/2020 17:30

We haven't bought anything more than we need for now. We have to bit a bit careful as we care for a 97 year old at home. But a bottle if bleach goes a long way. If we go to the shop and they are out of stock of and item, we buy something else. Having said that, whereas we may have waited till we were about out of, say bleach, we will buy a week earlier now. We normally have a couple of weeks supply of most goods as a matter of course anyway.

starlight13 · 05/10/2020 17:31

No stockpiling here. Unprecedented before and the shops were not prepared. They are now.

toilet · 05/10/2020 17:34

@Yesthesearemymonkeys The points you are trying to make are contradicting some of the threads on the preppers board. That is my point!

Is there a preppers manual, guideline because it's very confusing that people on the prepping boards are considered panic buyers on this thread. That's why I don't understand some of the more sanctimonious posts.

bellinisurge · 05/10/2020 17:35

Yes, they are all prepared for No Deal Brexit. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

toilet · 05/10/2020 17:38

@Aridane don't they realise stress is bad for you!

Ashdownstar · 05/10/2020 17:38

Yes exactly @bellinisurge. This spring was just a minor bump in the road.
Though a lot of brexiters will be like duh, brexit has already happened. At least my rl leaver friends think so. No clue at all about transition period and all the squabbling currently going on about trade deals.

Janevaljane · 05/10/2020 17:39

Blimey, you preppers have short memories

Bwlch · 05/10/2020 17:39

I'd really like to know where this magic area is where you are that didn't have empty shelves and plenty of delivery slots.

It wasn't that magic. There were no delivery slots at all.
