Is there genuinely ANYONE who could afford to get a couple of weeks shopping into the house, who hasn't?

And if so, WHY?

@Whichoneofyoudidthat - that reminds me of the time when I got all my Christmas food shopping early, ate it all and had to buy it again 2 weeks later. Those were the days (pre-kids).

@Thurmanmurman

I can afford to but why would I? I didn't first time round either and guess what, nobody starved and we were all still able to wipe our bums. Basically I'm not hysterical, or selfish and I can't help being judgemental of people who stockpile.
So what will you do if you get Covid or have to self isolate?

I didn't see the OP as being specifically about coronavirus/lockdown planning. It seems to me that now we've learnt how quickly things can change, that the OP wanted to lob a grenade was wondering why people wouldn't prepare for another similar scenario, however caused.
I will admit to wondering over the summer if people would do as they did in the old days and prepare ahead for a rainy day.
I certainly have, and I've encouraged my young adult children to do same, with varying degrees of success.
I'm confident that having plenty of stuff in which I now rotate and use in date order, hasn't caused any supply issues.
I'm still shopping as normal now but if it looks like stocks are low on anything that's on my list, I can leave it to another day.
Food bank benefitted today, because I gathered up a bagful of groceries that will be best before end Jan next year, so I dropped it off at a collection point. I could have used it myself but I have enough.
Im hopeful that I can donate more next year and not need it for my family in the event of the brexit transition period causing supply chain mayhem.
In any event, if it's necessary I have enough for my family for a while, and hopefully help other people out.
I'm happy with my choices

@IronLawOfGeometricProgression. Ask my next door neighbour or a friend to go shopping for me. I am lucky in that sense.
