Installed the app recently and today a notification appeared on my lock screen saying something like "possible covid contact". When I tapped the message to open the app there was nothing there other than the usual green 'scanning' thing.

AIBU to do nothing until more info comes through? Does anyone have experience of the information that comes when you've had contact with a positive case? Even the pop up has gone from my notifications now.

I am a keyworker so no WFH option.

A similar topic was posted the other day and it seems this is a bug with the app . I got the same message Friday and nothing when I went into the app

Ilikewinter · 04/10/2020 17:44

Yep ive had it 3 times in a week, i also read it was a bug or something.

NewShoesRub · 04/10/2020 17:44

Thank you! Thank goodness for that.

(Pretty significant bug Confused)

It's a bug. If you Google it it'll explain but a real notification stays so just ignore the disappearing ones.

For those of us on the fence about downloading this app, this doesn’t make it sound great!

(I don’t go anywhere that requires it, and am specifically told we are not to have it on when we’re at work, so haven’t ‘needed’ it so far)

NewShoesRub · 04/10/2020 17:54

Yeah exactly! I only got it about a week or so ago as I heard it had problems that were now fixed.

I've used the codes at the gym twice and one cafe. Fully that the supermarkets don't have a code (my local doesn't anyway)

*funny, not fully

Can you add a location retrospectively? I went to a nearby town today to do some shopping but my phone died on the way

NewShoesRub · 04/10/2020 18:17

Don't think you can. It's the QR code or nothing as far as I can see.
Maybe someone will know better than me though.

@NewShoesRub Are you in Scotland by any chance OP? I got a notification from mine about a week after I’d installed it which said something about possible contacts - there was nothing there when I went into the app though. Managed to get the notification back and turns out it was telling me I’d had “Zero known exposure risks” that week. Had the same again a week later. Would never have known if I hadn’t managed to get the notification back though as nothing at all comes up in the app 🤷🏻‍♀️

NewShoesRub · 04/10/2020 18:33

Hmmm interesting @RWK29 ! I'm in England.

Will be keeping an eye on this pesky app!

Thanks @Quarantino !!
Love your username by the way

I'm in Scotland and get a weekly notification from the app to say how many times its checked exposures with other phones.

The issue OP is talking about seems to relate to the English app

Why are you told not to have it on at work? Surely that is illegal?
NewShoesRub · 04/10/2020 19:15

I'm told the same @Obbydoo

For me, there are positive cases in my care which would/may trigger the app to tell me to isolate. We'd be in a perpetual loop and have no staff.

Instead, we have regular tests and only go off if symptomatic etc.

OP posts:
DaveMinion · 04/10/2020 19:56

@Obbydoo I work for the nhs and we are told to turn off contact tracing when at work as we are wearing ppe and possibly in contact with people with covid anyway so it won’t work for us anyway.

I work in theatres and possibly exposed daily as we don’t know the covid status of some emergency patients so wear full ppe for those cases. For elective surgery patients are tested 4 days before and isolate from then.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/10/2020 20:03

I'm getting it about twice a day. It's really irritating!

Lemonylemony · 04/10/2020 20:30

Same, we wear PPE, follow strict guidelines etc. DP is police and has been told not to have the app on either.
