Shit customer service - TikTok

I posted about this last week & got zero replies! But hoping someone can help.

My DD can’t get into her TikTok account. She’s upset as she built up a real following - during lockdown she spent a lot of time on it. I’ve emailed them, contacted them via social
Media inc Twitter & Instagram, filled in the “verification” form on the site & even emailed the CEO. Obviously they don’t care.

I know I’m over infested in this but I’m really pissed off a social media site refuse to interact online at all!

Does anyone have any other avenues to explore... although I guess I should just give up now!!

It’s not “customer service” though is it, you’re just a user of their services, they don’t owe you anything unfortunately - they will be covered by the T&Cs. Ultimately the account belongs to them, not you.

If she’s really that influential on social media, she will regain her following on a new account

Tiktok never reply to emails because they're inundated with requests for the verification badge, username changes etc. Not sure how your daughter got locked out of her account as they have an automated system for resetting passwords?

A slim chance would be to create second TT account and use that to contact the official account from your local office (Tiktok UK, USA etc). Sometimes email addresses of employees are released in press releases so check the news sections of their website.

And finally, depending on how big she is, can she get in contact with other influencers? A little known fact is that almost every big TikTok-er has a direct contact person within Tiktok who deal with their requests. These are verified creators who have 1M+ followers in at least one or more of the big three platforms. The same applies to Instagram/Facebook and Youtube/Google. They do offer very good "customer service" but unfortunately only to a privileged few.

I know someone who was locked out of TikTok, she had to make a new account and gained back 10k followers in a couple of hours.

If your DD is that 'influential' then she'll be capable of doing so too.

At the end of the day all social media apps are nothing more than advertising platforms. Their business model is getting eyeballs and about 1% of the accounts generate 95% of the views & revenue. So from a business perspective it makes no sense for them to spend paid employee time dealing with requests from users who do not provide significant added value. This isn't a personal insult but just in terms of numbers, smaller accounts mean nothing to them. They reserve the finite amount of man/womanpower to support and push creators who can draw in multiple millions of views.
