To think drive through click and collect is marvellous

Boring I know, but due to deliveries all but drying up where I am, tried click and collect from Asda yesterday.
Literally ordered at 12pm, drive up at 3pm - with shopping all bought to car as I arrived. Bloody amazing

What about those who do not have a car, some for medical reasons? Or the idea of planning a day or two ahead?

Elizaaa · 04/10/2020 10:42

What about if we had a thread without whataboutery for once 😮

unexpectedthird · 04/10/2020 10:43

I love click and collect!

@nosswith I'm unsure what your point is. It won't be replacing deliveries and frees the spaces up for those situations you describe.

Whatwouldscullydo · 04/10/2020 10:43

Sounds good.

Leaves less of a queue for those who need or want to shop in store or get delivery

HubbabubbaT · 04/10/2020 10:44

I fully agree! Couldn't get a delivery and it's pretty tricky to do shopping with rambunctious toddlers...looked on Asda and had a similar experience to you, booked and collected all within a few hours.. the staff member who brought the shopping crates out was fully socially distanced and wearing a mask.. it all went really smoothly and I'll definitely use it again.

Amen to this.

I imagine they probably won’t choose to use it 🤨

Are you suggesting that all services that require a car shouldn’t exist because some people won’t be able to use it?

willitbetonight · 04/10/2020 10:46

Out of interest can you use this if you are quarantined?

Flipflophurray · 04/10/2020 10:47

@nosswith well hopefully by not getting a delivery I’ve freed up a space for them. 🙄

OP posts:
Flipflophurray · 04/10/2020 10:48

@willitbetonight I’d say not - as obviously you’re touching the pallets etc to put the food in the car.

This thread is aimed at people who don't have those issues zzzz
StrangeAddiction · 04/10/2020 10:50

I like the idea of being able to do same day collections.

Is there a minimum spend? I'm staying out of the shops and it's a pain when I run out of milk or bread etc and I have to wait for a full shopping delivery.

Ifailed · 04/10/2020 10:53

No, you are not allowed to leave your home.

Flipflophurray · 04/10/2020 10:54

@StrangeAddiction it’s less than delivery - it’s £25 minimum I think, so probably not great for say just bread and milk. I do sometimes use Deliveroo for that sort of thing for my parents at the moment though - around here they have Co-op and M&S local on it.

Mindymomo · 04/10/2020 10:55

No you cannot use this if you are in quarantine, you don’t leave your house at all. I have used click and collect for a long while, it’s better now that the staff put the items in your car and it’s cheaper than getting it delivered and you don’t have to stay in for the delivery.

poppy2021 · 04/10/2020 10:58

I love ASDA click and collect. Started in May when I could get a slot and wish I'd done this years ago. Saves to much time, money and hassle. Smile

Flipflophurray · 04/10/2020 10:59

Also - I do t usually shop as Asda (but for click and collect it was nearer than Tesco or Sainsbury’s where I usually shop) and it was bloody cheap. Will see what the food is all like though.

Givemeabreak88 · 04/10/2020 10:59

Yeh if you have a car it is 😂

Flipflophurray · 04/10/2020 11:00

Sorry realise I sound like and advert for Asda - but was honestly impressed. So was Dh as he usually does the shopping.

OP posts:
Flipflophurray · 04/10/2020 11:02

@Givemeabreak88 well for those without a car I assume that you’d do whatever you usually do no?

Used it for years but prefer Tesco for dates, no missing items and general customer service Smile

Ginisatonic · 04/10/2020 11:04

We’ve used click and collect quite a lot. I prefer delivery but sometimes a delivery is difficult to get. We’ve used Asda,Tesco and Waitrose.
Tesco locally to us is the best as you just drive up to the cabin in the car park. Never have to queue. Asda is a bit more of a faff as they take longer to bring the shopping out of the store and a queue builds up on to the road. At waitrose you have to park and walk to the shop to collect. But they do ask you to wait outside and they bring it out.
I can’t imagine ever going in to the supermarket again for a full weekly shop. I may go in to browse for a few items but it’s just so easy to have everything picked.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 04/10/2020 11:05

tesco and morrisons do this round where i live

Veiaola · 04/10/2020 11:07

Yes it's great service, I used it at beginning of lockdown it saved my sanity when I couldn't cope with the in store shop an could not get any deliveries here.

StrangeAddiction · 04/10/2020 11:11

@Flipflophurray I didn't know deliveroo done these kinds of deliveries, I'll have a look. Thanks
