To feel SO mad over a printer

Bought a new HP printer for 60 pounds from Argos. Comes with instant ink for three months, which is IRONIC because i can’t even get three minutes of ink, let alone three months.

It just WILL NOT connect to my wifi. Done all the usual trouble shooting. AIBU to want to kick the bastard thing out the window? The rage is extreme.

Argos will refund me right? I do not wish to have another one of these bastard things in my house ever again. Which is a shame as I am in my final year of an OU degree. Could really have done with one.

So mad :(

I got an hour one too and it was fuckkng useless. I spent hours while my children were wfh trying to print things for them. First of all the black ink ran out after about 3 uses, then it just refused to connect to my Internet too. I binned the bustard because I couldn't find a receipt.

In a perverse way I'm glad I'm not alone. I despise our HP WiFi printer. Absolutely despise it. I've had so many tearful, rage-induced breakdowns as a result of trying to use it. I feel your pain.

I’ve had endless problems with our £60 HP printer until I got the HP Smart App - honestly a game changer now works like a dream!

honigbutter · 03/10/2020 17:18

I detest printers. The wifi has never worked on my HP one, even when it's sitting beside the router.

Previously I tried buying a more expensive laser printer which went on the blink and turned out to have a major fault, not worth repairing.

I wish I didn't need one.

supersop60 · 03/10/2020 17:22

I have no suggestions how to make it work, sorry.
My printer works fine for me, but not at all for my DP. He has the printer rage, too!

DeliaOwens · 03/10/2020 17:32

OP, any chance you could Use a USB cable to connect and see if it works?
Maybe check your device is also on the right network especially where there’s a WiFi range extender as this creates separate networks, making it harder to connect.

Ok so I approached it again with fresh eyes.
Calmly took it out the box and did exactly the same thing as I did hours ago (followed all instructions to a T). It’s bloody working!!!! Can’t believe it. Rage has completely left the building.

Fingers crossed.
I’m sure it will start being an utter bastard again soon, but at the moment we are friends.

Thank you all. Glad to hear I’m not alone in feeling such utter rage.

I might be too late, but have you tried the wps button on your router? That had me stumped for hours when I tried to set mine up!

isthismylifenow · 03/10/2020 18:02

I have an HP. It works perfectly well if you aren't in a rush and have all day to print. BUT..... If you are in a hurry to print or scan something, the fucker will say no way am I doing that because now is the time for a network update. Or to lose all its settings and I get into a rage as you were earlier.

I have never had anything as tempremental in my house as this printer, and I have had two teenagers and an ex husband.
