Negative test. Can I be pregnant?

Sorry for the TMI but I need some advice.

Husband and I DTD and the condom came off inside of me 😳😅 Took the MAP the next morning.

I was warned that my period might be up to a week late and to do a PT after 3 weeks. So period due date comes and goes, nothing.

I wait 2 weeks and take a test, negative. Wait another couple of days and test again, still negative.

I'm now 2+ months late and wondering wtf is going on. There's been no changes to trigger a missed period e.g. diet, stress, weight loss to explain it.

Has the MAP just messed me up or am I getting a false negative? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

The one time I took it, my period was late, but not 2 months late. Any physical change you have noticed in your body or even tiredness? Have you put on weight, bigger boobs?
Maybe a trip to the go for blood test might be a good idea

False negatives are pretty rare, so I think it’s unlikely that you’re pregnant. Lots of things can cause a period to be late, and it may just be a long reaction to the MAP.

You can always get a blood test from your GP to confirm if you’re not sure.

Mindymomo · 02/10/2020 07:04

I have taken MAP to delay period on holiday, which made me not have a period for 8 weeks. When it gets to after 8 weeks with no period and test still negative, I would ring GP for a blood test.

BeachWishin · 02/10/2020 16:15

I hope it is just delayed and comes soon! I have been knackered the past couple of weeks. Napping after work 😳

I'll wait another week before asking for a blood test! Thanks everyone 😁

I'd go the doctors if your period is 2 MONTHS late?! You would have had a positive test by now if you were pregnant, but it could be a complication from the MAP.

BeachWishin · 08/10/2020 00:47

Still no period, not even a cramp :S

I don't know if the doctors will even see me for a blood test atm with COVID-19. Cases are soaring here and we're in local lockdown.

Possibly, I had two negative tests with each of mine but when I was 6 weeks pregnant, not 10/11 weeks (which is what you'd be with a period that was 2 months late). Go to a doctor. They'll still be referring for pregnancy testing.

BeachWishin · 11/10/2020 00:10

My doctor has refused to give me a blood test 🤬 I have to wait to see and try not to panic! I actually can't believe it Angry

I was extremely tired in the first trimester with both of mine.

How long ago since you did your last test? Might it be with trying another?

BeachWishin · 11/10/2020 00:15

About 3 weeks ago. Don't pregnancy tests become more unreliable the further along you are?

OP posts:
DizzyPigeon · 11/10/2020 00:19

I think that's after the first trimester. From memory, Hcg levels usually peak in the third month, so you should all be fine to do one. You might want to check that though. Its been a while.

BeachWishin · 11/10/2020 00:25

I'll send DH to get one tomorrow 😬 What a faff!

DizzyPigeon · 11/10/2020 00:29

Good luck!

BeachWishin · 11/10/2020 00:32

Thank you! 😊

Taking the map messed up my period for months after . It's probably just that

DizzyPigeon · 12/10/2020 16:43

Did you get another test done?

BeachWishin · 13/10/2020 13:03

@DizzyPigeon Yes another negative one! I guess the MAP has just really messed up my cycle 🙄

AriettyHomily · 13/10/2020 13:44

When I took it I spent about six weeks driving myself crazy that it hadn't worked
As period was so late. It finally turned up.

BackBeatTheWordisOnTheStreet · 13/10/2020 13:47

I would also assume the MAP just screwed up your cycle. It would be very unusual to still get a negative test this low after conceiving.

DizzyPigeon · 13/10/2020 16:34

The fact that people have had the map mess up they cycle is very reassuring. Glad it's negative :)

iolaus · 13/10/2020 18:28

Even though hcg levels do decrease late in pregnancy its usually still enough to trigger a pregnancy test - clearblue says they detect from 10IU/L - others are 25

Average levels
The average levels of hCG in a pregnant woman’s blood are:

non-pregnant women - less than 5 U/L
pregnant women, about 4 weeks after the last menstrual period or LMP (average 1 week before first missed period) - 0 to 750 U/L
pregnant women, about 5 weeks after the LMP (week after first missed period) - 200 to 7,000 U/L
pregnant women, about 6 weeks after the LMP - 200 to 32,000 U/L
pregnant women, about 7th weeks after the LMP - 3,000 to 160,000 U/L
pregnant women, about 8 to 12 weeks after the LMP - 32,000 to 210,000 U/L
pregnant women, about 13 to 16 weeks after the LMP - 9,000 to 210,000 U/L
pregnant women, about 16 to 29 weeks after the LMP - 1,400 to 53,000 U/L
pregnant women, about 29 to 41 weeks after the LMP - 940 to 60,000 U/L

How old are you OP? Could it be getting towards perimenopause?

Charlo836g · 18/10/2020 21:56

OP did you find out what was happening? I’m going through something similar at the moment and feel like the Drs just think I’m stupid

BeachWishin · 19/10/2020 23:38

I've had a period! Sorry I did mean to come back and update!

So glad I'm not pregnant. The MAP messed it all up 🙈
