I’m having cataract surgery for both eyes at 59. I’m being recommended -2 monofocal in the left eye to give me good reading and middle distance. ( I can’t have multi focal)

What did you have and how do you feel about it? I gather typically it’ll end up between -1.75 and -2.25 depending on how my eyes react after the op.

Need to decide tomorrow and feeling nervous so all advice very welcome.

You shouldn't be having both eyes done at once OP. I assume you're very short sighted (having cataracts at 59). Have your distance eye done first and then see how it goes.
You can try the -2 lens in your eye as a contact lens first before proceeding.

I’m only having the second one when we see how the first op goes.

Sadly wearing a lens or glasses doesn’t really help as I gather the monofocal lens has no flex unlike normal lenses and cataracts progressed so cant really judge

I have had both done and had near sight in one eye and distance in the other. I love it but it doesn't suit everyone.
