I park on street (not that) near my house and near school for drop offs etc. Have done for years. Since lockdown it’s much worse. Sometimes it takes me 5 to 10 minutes of circling until I can get a space. Am I just unlucky? Interested to hear others experience.

My area has been better for parking, it’s normally a nightmare, but I live fairly close to town and people park around here to avoid town parking charges so there’s been a lot less of that.

It is probably individual to specific schools, but...

  • breakfast club provision being reduced will mean more children are ariving for the usual school start rather than being dropped off earlier
  • staggered starts mean parents may need to stay around longer to drop one child off, and then 10 minutes later drop off their second child
  • restrictions mean car sharing isn't possible - 2 families living next door to each other now have to make separate journeys rather than being able to split the school run.

I am sure I have missed some factors. Some schools will be affected by these more than others.
