Ferry France and self isolation

My ex (childrens dad) has bought a house in France. He went on a ferry 2 weeks ago. He's just rang and asked to see them this weekend. I've told him no. He needs to self isolate. He said he did a swab test before he boarded the Ferry AND another when he got back. Tests take 3 days for the results ( I don't believe he's taken a test). I've told him he can have them if he can show me proof he's got a clear test result since his return ( Sunday).. Otherwise he can't see them for another two weeks AIBU?

Totally agree with you

When did he return?

kerrymucklowe2020 · 30/09/2020 21:27

"When did he return?"
Last Sunday

A clear test just says he's clear when he took it. If he only got back on Sunday, he could be incubating it for up to 14 days.

He got back from France on Sunday 20th?!
And he wants to see the children 13 days later on the 3rd Oct? I would say that’s ok. And I’m quite strict about “the rules”. You will seem very petty to squabble about 1 day

Generallybewildered · 30/09/2020 21:53

Or do you mean Sunday 27th?
If so then no, you are not being unreasonable. I would say no too even with a test.

Last Sunday, The 27th

The rule is clear: isolate for 14 days. What makes him think he’s an exception?

QuentinInQuarantino · 30/09/2020 22:29

Well it's against the rules but then if he's taken tests (and got negatives) he's probably less risk than anyone else they'll be in contact with. Something like 0.8% of the French population have it as opposed to the uk's 0.66. But the law says he has to isolate for 14 days.

LIVID. He's just rang and told them "your mummy says you're not allowed to come and see me this weekend"!!!! I shouted "don't you EVER lie to her again!, I DID NOT say that, it's the government rules!!!" And I ended the call. FUMING!

You probably could have handled that better. You did say she couldn't see him, but with good reason.
