Sorry, it's not an AIBU but need the traffic
Can my 4 year old in full time education go to a childcare provider for the October break does anyone know?
We're in Scotland but not in a local lockdown area and school ends on Friday for 2 weeks, and I've no idea I've I should be trying to book a place or not. I know my local place have spaces, and my 5 yo would love it (and mean I don't have to use my last holidays which I need for christmas)

Yes they can as far as I’m aware

Hi, yes they can. My ds goes to the child minder every day after school and also during the school holidays. And we are in a local lockdown area and it’s still allowed.

It depends on the policies of the childcare provider. At our holiday club, children who had been in another setting (school) had to take a 2 week break between the end of summer term and starting holiday club to 'self isolate' before joining the setting. This didn't affect us as dd wasn't in the years that went back to school in summer term. But other dc couldn't start until August.

If the policy is the same, she wouldn't be able to go for half term, for instance, because there is no time for that 2 week break before starting. It's a school holiday club, but not her school. It's possible that rule may not apply to children from that school though. I think it's probably quite unlikely to get a place so last minute though unless they have cancellations.

So no definitive answer there...
Will try calling them, thank you though 😊

In our area..which is under extra controls and was in summer holidays... yes... We had to use this as local restrictions meant my parents weren't allowed to look after them (bizarre I know). No restrictions on having been to other childcare settings at any of our local ones.

However the problem with a 4 year old is many places won't take them all day till they are 5... Insurance reasons... Not great if they are youngest in year and have a year of holidays where can't do full day at clubs.
