This thread is actually not good for my blood pressure.

CaveMum · 05/10/2020 09:37

So if we’re expecting a relapse/worsening of his condition it’ll be any time from Wednesday onwards (going by the muddled timeline they keep giving as to when he actually tested positive/showed symptoms).

Surely if someone needs oxygen so early in the lifespan of the virus you’re going to be very concerned about that Day 7-9 danger zone?! Why on earth does anyone, other than The Donald think it’s a good idea to let him out of hospital before that phase has passed?

Roussette · 05/10/2020 09:37

Nor mine!

Thank goodness it's too early for a Wine !

Hehe!

eu.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2020/10/04/donald-trump-covid-19-what-we-know-steroid-dexamethasone/3616811001/

From what I've read this cocktail of drugs they're pumping into him can cause all sorts of problems.

Dexmethasone can cause confusion, agitation, hallucinations and paranoia. It's a steroid, and only given if on oxygen and 'extremely ill'.

I just wonder if they're keeping him going until the Election pumping him full of anything to keep him in the race, in the hope he wins, and if he does, he will then be retired off

If he loses the election, will it matter which judges are in the SC regarding his lawsuits? Unless he blackmails them personally.

OVienna · 05/10/2020 10:21

@Lweji

If he loses outright, no ambiguity, there shouldn't be any lawsuits. However, this is TEAM TRUMP. So.

The Constitution states that the Supreme Court has both original and appellate jurisdiction. Original jurisdiction means that the Supreme Court is the first, and only, Court to hear a case. The Constitution limits original jurisdiction cases to those involving disputes between the states or disputes arising among ambassadors and other high-ranking ministers.

SC isn't obliged to hear a case. They'd have to consider the basis for any suit brought by Trump and its suitability to be considered by them (as opposed to a lower court etc). I very much doubt vague 'voter fraud' would be a reason. It is exactly when you're trying to explain something like this where you realise you lack some important details but Trump can't just 'take it to the Supreme Court' cause that is what he feels is warranted, if the issue pertains to specific issues around for example voting irregularity in a state.

God knows what they'll try. Probably something unless it's a wipe out. Probably even then.

Maybe the results will be held up becaues all the votes haven't been counted, then he'll allege fraud around that. Probably hoping to drag it out so long we'll all forget there was ever an election.

See, this is a good outcome for Republicans. Many would be happy with Pence, who could also run for a second term. The Trump legacy would live on.

@OVienna

I was asking in relation to his personal lawsuits, not the result of the election, which will be something quite different.

Oohhh sorry.

I hadn't realised Trump's grandfather was killed by the 1918 flu.

Roussette · 05/10/2020 11:16

Interesting article. He considers illness as weakness then. Which explains some of his behaviour this last weekend.

I do remember when some elderly guy at MarALago at a Charity Ball fell off the stage and hit his head and started bleeding. Trump was revolted, found it disgusting and just wanted him out of there. He was more worried about the marble floor. And never rang the guy in the morning to see how he was.

In the US an osteopath is fully medically qualified. It’s not like being an osteopath in the uk. All the DOs I’ve seen have been great because they take a more holistic approach.
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/10/2020 12:36

It seems to me that once someone is safely on SCOTUS, they have absolutely no need to give any preferential treatment to the guy who put them there: they are in a job for life and can do as they please without reference to what a past president may or may not want of them.

And Trump's people are unlikely to be anything other than self-absorbed and self-interested; they are not going to hitch their wagons to a waning or discredited star.

I doubt they will give Trump any consideration they would not give to any other citizen of the USA, and they may even treat him less well than they would others in order to demonstrate that they are impartial.

That's the private lawsuits. They will probably still want to put their oars into the election results if there is the slightest pretext for them to do so. After all, it is in the interests of at least two of them for Trump to get a second term; Brett Kavanaugh at least can still be impeached. That's less likely to "take" under the man who got him appointed, and five years after the event impeaching him would look like malice rather than a search for justice.

(That I can write that shows how badly Trump has managed to reduce the respect US institutions are viewed in the rest of the world.)

Judging from his current Twitter feed, I think he might have had a little too much.

Roussette · 05/10/2020 12:48

No way is hhe writing these string of tweets all in caps.

I reckon he's poorly, and one of his aides is just churning out all this stuff. Whilst trying to channel his style...

Him writing "I am the only thing between you and your Second Amendment." smacks of the true, the unblushful Trump. It says the opposite of what (I think!) he intended.

VeryLittleOwl · 05/10/2020 13:05

Literally Trump on steroids.

RE Trumps drive by with other people in the car. I know the Secret Service detail are prepared to take a bullet for their President. But I bet they didn't expect him to be wielding the gun
