GreenSepticStumpsleeves · 10/10/2007 13:59

capitals for comedic effect, eg "that would be a Very Bad Idea" are exempt.

it's idiots who put things like "ds2 has forgotten his Lunch Box again" who need a bullet.

SharpMolarBear · 10/10/2007 14:39

yes I thought you meant like ThIs as WeLl - very odd See what you mean now. I think sometimes it's assumed that all nouns have a capital letter.

bozza · 10/10/2007 14:40

LOL UQD so did I. We get e-mails like this from security.

UnquietDad · 10/10/2007 14:42

Of Course, They Do In German.

What annoys me is when people use "inverted commas" when they want to "emphasise" something. I was proofing a manuscript the other day in which the author had put every vaguely "metaphorical" expression in "inverted commas". Like this:

'I knew everyone would "pull together" and that we would all be "singing from the same hymn sheet" before too long.'

And I have to say, after 200 pages of this it was driving me "up the wall."

DoctorFrankenSquonk · 10/10/2007 14:46

UD - tis better than when you are faced with someone, in person, who does the inverted comma thing with the first two fingers of each hand, in the air - you know what I mean - tis tres irritating.

bossybritches · 10/10/2007 14:47

Vancancy was MY typo sorry!!!

SharpMolarBear · 10/10/2007 14:48

don't you mean "irritating"?
