Period problems

Hi

Posting here for traffic. Since the birth of my last child who is now 3, my periods have been getting heavier and heavier. I saw the gp about 18 months ago who did bloods and everything was fine but it has continued to get worse to the point I struggle to be at work even on a short shift (shop work) because of the worrying I will leak and the sudden flooding.

I also feel I am so affected by my hormones from about 3 days before, I am so emotional, spotty, I feel like I’m in a brain fog and can’t make minor decisions about what to cook for dinner etc. I feel so tightly wound up and snappy all the time and so irritable and can’t tolerate anything and that’s so different to how I am the rest of the month and I just can’t take it any more.

I have also gained weight over the last year or so and I can’t shift it which is getting me down, I think it may all be linked.

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I go back to my gp? Although they are not doing routine appointments yet and this won’t be classed as urgent.

For extra info I am early 30’s, not overweight, no other health issues.

Has your doctor checked your thyroid levels? Low thyroid can cause weight gain and heavy periods. I had this after the birth of my first DD.
Also your GP can prescribe tranexamic acid to taken when your period starts. It will reduce the flow enough for you to be able to get through the day.
