To wonder if I'm pregnant?

DH and I have been TTC for 1st DC for about 4 months. Period was due on Thursday, not a hint of anything yet. I've also had very sore boobs for nearly a week now!

When I realised I was late, I went out and bought a digital pregnancy test, which came back negative.

As I hadn't used my first wee of the day, I then tested again this morning with a line test (one of the cheap ones that comes in pack of 20). Also negative.

I hadn't tested ovulation so not sure how many days post I am, but would have thought if I was pregnant then I'd have had a positive test by now.

Has anyone else been late, tested negative and then ended up being pregnant?

I don't want to get my hopes up, but not sure what else would be causing me to be late Sad

I dont want to get your hopes up but you could just be testing too early for a test to show positive?
Im 36 weeks now and my very first sign that I was pregnant was a very sore chest too (before I got a positive test that is) x

Thank you @20wedding19 - this is what I'm thinking too! I've got a FirstResponse test and the other digital Clearblue one to try, I'm going to try them again in a few days...

I really don't want to get my hopes up but I've never been late before!

in all honesty, I would expect something on a test if you're period is usually regular at 3 days late. a frer would almost certainly pick it up by now unless you implanted very late. not saying it isnt possible because I'm sure there will be people who have been in this situation but I've personally always tested positive on the day of missed period and with a frer, several days before.

good luck, fingers crossed for you.

@Cherrybalm thank you. I think this is why I'm so confused, I'm not sure what else could be causing the sore boobs and late period but also would have expected to get a positive by this point.

Think my body might be playing some very cruel tricks on me Sad

I totally understand the confusion and the hope, ttc was one of the most maddening experiences of my life!

I hope you get a positive test soon, or atleast your period so you can begin a new cycle Flowers

The digital ones are pretty bad at picking it up early, they are not very sensitive. Try the first response. If you are it’s very likely it will show up now.

PardonMyFrancais · 27/09/2020 18:07

@LeSquigh fingers crossed - I’ve got 2 upstairs in the bathroom ready for tomorrow morning. I’m very impatient (if you hadn’t guessed!) and just hate this not knowing!

I can't remember how many days late I was, but I think it was almost a week, before I got a positive test with my second pregnancy. I kept testing because despite the negatives I just bloody KNEW I was pregnant lol 😂
So definitely don't give up hope yet. Maybe give it a few more days before testing again.
Good luck!

TheSkyFalleth · 27/09/2020 18:23

Both my kids tested positive the day after my period was due.
Negative on the day.

anorangeaday · 27/09/2020 18:25

Digital ones a crap, first response with FMU is best. Give that a go tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you

Thanks everyone, it’s really useful to hear other people’s experiences!

I swear when I was younger I was told I could get pregnant just from looking at a boy - turns out it’s nowhere near that simple, eh?
