What would it be? Mine would be a Sunday roast with all the trimmings

Pizza! Or maybe sushi...either of those would be fine by me.

Doliv63 · 26/09/2020 00:35

Yes agree with lashings of gravy😊

1Morewineplease · 26/09/2020 00:35

Yep... totally agree with you. My roast of choice would probably be chicken, but lamb would be very close behind that.

yearinyearout · 26/09/2020 00:38

Roast lamb dinner. Can we have pudding? If so I'll have rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream.

WittyWithWine · 26/09/2020 00:38

Homemade lasagne

tobee · 26/09/2020 00:39

Meze or smorgasbord.

CuntyMcBollocks · 26/09/2020 00:45

sorry, no pudding - unless that's your meal choice Grin

Steak frites. Rare with mayo on the side.

Lovely1a2b3c · 26/09/2020 00:47

Breakfast of sugar waffles with toffee sauce and ice cream.

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 26/09/2020 00:47

Couscous with roast veg, feta cheese and coriander. Lots of feta and roast veg though...

WhittlingWinnie · 26/09/2020 00:51

Prawn cocktail...have not got past it since 1992, my all time fav 😋

ladybird69 · 26/09/2020 00:52

Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and trifle for dessert.

DeRigueurMortis · 26/09/2020 00:52

Roast beef dinner but given I'm eating it forever I'm going to be VERY specific.

The beef has to be fore rib and cooked medium/well on a trivet of veg (onion/carrot/celery).

There has to be:

 • Yorkshire Puddings that are huge and crisp at the top with a slightly soft "underbelly"
 • Roast potatoes cooked in dripping until
they are crunchy on the outside but melt in the middle
 • mash that's creamy and buttery with no lumps
 • cauliflower cheese that's not watery made with really good strong cheddar cheese
 • carrots cut in battons not disks
 • tender stem broccoli that's still slightly crisp
 • Savoy cabbage that's seasoned with lots of freshly milled black pepper
 • proper gravy made with the fond from the roast and proper beef stock (no cubes) enhanced with red wine and rosemary
 • a plentiful supply of mustard and horseradish sauce

Basically how I cook a roast beef diner Grinand no other will suffice.

If that option is not available I'd probably go for Pizza as long as could change the toppings! Otherwise a pizza with every topping I love and pick ones off to create variety Grin

ButterflyRuns · 26/09/2020 00:53

Agree with Sunday roast!

MadameBlobby · 26/09/2020 00:54

Fillet steak
Chips
Mushrooms
Broccoli
Pepper sauce
Glass of red wine

Oh boy! Come to mama!

MadameBlobby · 26/09/2020 00:56

Fillet steak cooked rare

Your roast sounds lovely but can I have sirloin of beef and the spuds in goose fat?
jennyb122 · 26/09/2020 01:14

carbonara. without mushrooms.

a recipe for you all Smile
100g of spaghetti (or less if you're not a pig like me Blush)
about a 1/4 of a tub of cream cheese
a teaspoon of lazy garlic
a chicken oxo
80ml pasta water
2 rashers of bacon
an egg yolk

fry the bacon while your pasta is cooking, then just toss everything in with the bacon and stir for about 30 secs until everything is mixed and warm.
Wink

@DeRigueurMortis Roasties and mash? 😱

BeaverTail · 26/09/2020 01:17

My instant thought was some kind of Indian curry, but I dont think my stomach would appreciate that.

I think a Sunday roast is the correct answer, good work!

Gingerkittykat · 26/09/2020 01:24

Steak, chips, blue cheese sauce, mushrooms, tomatoes and a side salad followed by strawberries and cream.

I think I've got all of the major food groups covered there; protein fat, carbs, dairy and my five a day.

I'm assuming this meal will magically have the right number of calories in it!

SquashedSpring · 26/09/2020 01:28

The homemade bread served with tomatoes and olive oil that I've just eaten was fantastic, so I'm going to go for that.

sleepylittlebunnies · 26/09/2020 01:32

Depends how specific it has to be. Not too specific and I’d go with curry. Indian, Thai, Chinese etc lots of different flavours and strengths of plenty of variety.

If it had to be the same ingredients every day I’d probably have to go for a decent roast dinner.

DeRigueurMortis · 26/09/2020 01:35

Sorry no....Grin

Rib is far superior and roast potatoes in beef dripping are sublime with beef.

I will however concede that goose fat roast
potatoes are lovely (essential) with a chicken/lamb/turkey roast.
@DeRigueurMortis Roasties and mash? 😱
Oh yes - it's a roast and you go all out.

You want the roast potatoes for the crunch and flavour and the buttery mash to smear over your broccoli and carrots, preferably with a veil of gravy...
