Covid Testing and schools frustration

AIBU to be baffled by this ? It's a nightmare with the kids back at school. Both Kids have several class mates off in each class, but tests are negative so far. DD is off with temperature, sore throat and blocked/runny nose. She was tested yesterday as fell into the 'needs testing 'bracket due to the high temperature. We are waiting for the results and I'm hoping its negative, but I am sure we are one of the 1000's of people who dont want to get tests unnecessarily but cannot ever be certain it is 'just a cold'. Who can really say anyway? We can't risk our kids taking Covid into school so we need the tests to know for sure. The impact is far reaching, with the whole family having to self isolate and the school on tenterhooks, until we get the result, but I cant see an alternative. I have heard rumours of parents keeping kids off with mystery illnesses as I think the impact of family isolation is too costly for them. Anyone struggling with the same conundrum?
(Hints for anyone struggling to get the test on line...I ended up calling 119 as I kept getting my test order cancelled.)
