Hi all. Oh has a fairly high pressure job in manufacturing. I won't go into detail so I don't give my identity away.

Basically they are being assholes with virus. Saying staff must absolutely come in unless staff are experiencing symptoms themselves ie not if your family members are and you need to isolate. Surely this is wrong? Did I read somewhere companies could get fined for this??

DS was tested at the weekend. Ended up he just had a cold but he did have a slight temperature for one day and a hacking cough with it. Negative result came back and ended up oh only needing 2.5 days off work after all. Better than 14 days for sure.

He's gone back in and work have been saying he must go in unless he has symptoms himself.

One of the staff higher up said that you can't use a cold as an excuse. DS did genuinely have 2 symptoms though. Said staff member said that his children are going in with coughs and colds which understand but DS did meet the criteria.

They've treated him really badly when he went back. Thing is oh has worked there for 15 years with probably less than 5 sick periods to his name. He even got a bonus last year for not going sick all year. His attendance is excellent.

Surely we all need to do our bit and not be made to feel guilty for doing so??

Surely not following the guidelines and having an outbreak in the workplace would put them in a much worse scenario then letting staff members isolate when needed?!
