To be nervous about a weekend driving test?

With covid etc it's been so difficult to get a driving test booked. Originally had to book it for January, a Tuesday morning at 11am.

However, a cancellation came up this morning so I jumped at the chance and now it's booked for the end of next month, Saturday morning 11:45am.

I didn't think twice obviously since it means I don't have to wait until next year, but now I'm nervous about doing my test on a weekend, and a time it could potentially be very busy. My DP and friends all took their tests on week days so have no idea what to expect.

I've also heard that examiners are only allowed a certain percentage of passes, and it's worse at the end of the month, my test is literally the last day of the month. Surely that can't be true? Hmm

Anybody else done a weekend test or in general have any advice? Sad

I did mine during rush hour - it means you'll not have to go as far due to traffic. I always thought this was a good thing!

Traffic is generally quieter at the weekend, especially commercial vehicles . No chance that examiners adjust the pass rates to meet quotas at a month end. That sounds like an excuse from someone who failed!

The percentage thing is tosh (family member is a driving instructor) plus he thinks they may be more lenient right now as such a big backlog to clear.

Either way just make sure you know the area well and perhaps try to drive there on a Saturday with someone (preferably driving yourself but as a passenger) around the same time of day so you know what to expect.

Good luck!

Update: I passed Grin super happy. Considering weekend tests are overtime for the examiners, I think they're a bit more lenient.

Congratulations! Grin

Massive congratulations, OP!

I was actually hoping for a weekend test before Covid, I tried to correlate my test with a football match day (live in a prem league city) so I could sit in traffic for 40 mins Grin. In the end I had to fight for any place after lockdown was over, and ended up passing at very end of a month as well, first thing in the morning (marginally quiet with a few rushing idiots about on roundabouts).
