To start off, I’m not going to pretend I’ve never edited a selfie. I usually press the auto-edit button on any phone picture, whether I’m in it or not, because it tends to fix little problems. Sometimes I might amend individual settings. I get that people like to look nice in photos, me included.
However, some of the pictures I’ve seen shared on Facebook recently are so heavily filtered that the subject is unrecognisable. One woman in particular, someone I went to school with, has ramped them up to 11 on everything. Her most recent pics are so extreme that she looks non-human (and they’re not jokey, giant head pics - she’s posting this as if it’s what she really looks like.) God help her if she goes anywhere near Roswell; they’ll have her on a slab with their scalpels out within minutes.
Why do people do this?! I get blurring the odd wrinkle, but surely you want people to still know it’s you? Or even just someone of this species?!
