Any musicians here?

I’m so worried about the arts sector. What on earth are musicians doing? Have you got a different job? I’m excluded from the government support scheme and have been out of work since March. I just don’t know what to do. Is anyone just getting any old job? Wondering whether to start applying for office or supermarket jobs (or any industry which may be hiring)

I don’t work in the arts (in another industry where it looks equally hopeless) but am a musician. It’s all very worrying indeed. I think in your situation I would be looking for a alternative job yes. Musician friends of mine are managing to get some kind of income teaching on zoom. Is that an option to consider?

Yes thankfully I’m able to do some tuition online but because children are in school during the day I can only work in the evenings which is very difficult as I have young children- this income although better than nothing is less than 25% of what I would normally earn so not ideal

It's shit isn't it? Diversification is the key I think - live streaming gigs, zoom lessons, small face-to-face masterclasses etc, but it depends what you do normally - performing, teaching, session work?

My daughter graduates this year. It's worrying. She's been taking voice over training courses and trying to network in that area.
