No medical knowledge OP just wanted to say I’m sorry to hear your sad news Flowers

Snackasaurus · 23/09/2020 21:22

I read this and didn't feel I could leave. Hoping for a positive outcome for you x

Boobissue · 23/09/2020 21:24

Thanks both, she's had other health issues that lacked the cancer, hence it's got such a strong hold.

I'm so sorry. Only her doctors can give you a prognosis, but that's a very concerning diagnosis.

Boobissue · 23/09/2020 21:28

I know @MissConductUS, at the moment they're saying they'll prolonged life. No hope of a cure obviously.

I’m so sorry, sending Flowers xx

Theluggage15 · 23/09/2020 21:33

The fact they’re still treating is a sign of hope OP. They haven’t given up yet. Best wishes to you and your aunt.

Purpledaisychain · 23/09/2020 21:37

Can't really offer anything in way of.medical knowledge but I do know several people who were told that they had weeks/months left to live only.to receive the all clear at a later date. Sorry for the cliche expression but it is never over until the fat lady sings.

Dessicator · 23/09/2020 21:46

Unfortunately it isn't looking good. My mum was diagnosed with a type of cancer with secondaries which usually has a prognosis of weeks. She lived for 6 months. Make the most of what you have on a day to day basis.

Misskittyfantastico85 · 23/09/2020 21:50

Flowers try not to get overwhelmed, its alot to take in. My DH is currently receiving treatment for Bowel Cancer that has metastasis into his lungs. You just have to have hope and faith. They can do wonderful things now with modern medicine

Applepieandcustardandicecrem · 23/09/2020 21:56

Sending you strength and hope OP, for you, your family and above all your aunt.

YouokHun · 23/09/2020 22:17

Send hugs and wishing you strength. I am in a similar position as my DF is now beyond treatment and I know he doesn’t have long, made harder by lockdown and not being able to be with him.

I find that each new stage in his illness is like a blow in the solar plexus but then there’s adjustment and you keep putting one foot in front of other. And though my father is at the end of his life now he first got a very grave diagnosis 20 years ago, so he is proof that the unexpected can happen.

When we are anxious and frightened we seek certainty and control but the greatest gift we have at times like this is the not knowing how things will turn out exactly, or quite when, because in that uncertainty lives hope and adjustment. You will do what we in similarly difficult situations do - keep putting one foot in front of the other and managing what each day presents you with. You are probably stronger than you realise, it just doesn’t feel like it at the moment and I really feel for you, and everyone on this thread dealing with similar difficulties.

I really hope your Aunt does well with her treatment and whatever happens I wish you lots of strength. Flowers

It’s obviously not good news that it’s spread beyond the kidney itself, but if they are doing chemo and radiotherapy they clearly feel that will give a chance of buying her more time. Some people can live with advanced kidney cancer for years.

Have you looked at Cancer research’s website? They have good information: www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/kidney-cancer
