AIBU to think it’s unfair they could all create a big bubble and live together and not social distance?

Don’t get me wrong I love the bake off but I would have loved to have rented a huge house with lots of friends during lockdown... didn’t know this was an option!!

I may have misunderstood as well, so feel free to correct me!

You are so not unreasonable. If we’d known that we could make a massive 6 week long bubble we’d have had Camp Bake Off and had a much nicer time!

OverTheRainbow88 · 23/09/2020 18:20

Same!! They probably have cleaners and chefs coming and going as well!! And a swimming pool... cocktail bar!

Maybe it counts as work.

ilovebedtimestories · 23/09/2020 18:25

Wish I was there!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 23/09/2020 18:27

As far as I know they started in July, so no issue

Lindy2 · 23/09/2020 18:29

The same approach has been taken with the cricket teams, Grand Prix teams and some films that are currently being made. It sounds sensible to me. It would be counted as work I expect. It was work to everyone involved apart from the contestants.

I personally loved that it was normal. As Pru said at the start - something familiar and comforting.

It felt like a small period of normality and was very therapeutic to me. Contestants in masks and distancing just wouldn't have been the same.

Oh I agree I loved watching it.

I just felt jealous of them 😬

This is similar to the bubble they set up for cricket this year including the commentators.

I think there were about 150 in the bubble for GBBO

Lindy2 · 23/09/2020 18:38

A Bake Off Bubble does sound a rather lovely place to be.

knittingaddict · 23/09/2020 18:39

Yeh, 6 weeks separated from their families. Nothing to be envious of.

elenacampana · 23/09/2020 18:39

I loved it!

Igotthemheavyboobs · 23/09/2020 18:40

Of course you could have rented a big house with your mates, that would be your household.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 23/09/2020 18:41

Imagine how chunky they will all be by the end if they are all practising their recipes through the week Grin

OverTheRainbow88 · 23/09/2020 18:41

@knittingaddict

Sounds dreamy 🤣

I have to say it was nice😁 No matter what there must be a bake off😁

movingonup20 · 23/09/2020 19:08

Apparently everyone stayed on site the whole time. Just like with the sports teams etc

showmethegin · 23/09/2020 19:36

They were allowed to bring their partners (I think!) and children if sole parents and even their dogs; they had a little doggy day care!
